Tonight's full moon is called the Beaver Moon. It is also a supermoon, making it the closest and largest full moon of 2025. The name comes from the time when beavers would build their winter dams and prepare for the cold season.
Beaver Moon: The name comes from the traditional practice of setting beaver traps in November for their pelts, or from the beavers themselves becoming more active as winter approaches.
Supermoon: This is the final of four consecutive supermoons in 2025, meaning the full moon will coincide with its perigee (closest point to Earth).
Bright and large: Because it is a supermoon, it will appear larger and brighter in the sky than most other full moons.
