Let's talk about AI generated logos!

Maybe you've started a small business or project and didn't have the budget to hire a designer to create branding. AI is cost effective/free and generates beautiful logos and images quickly.

Below you can see my personal Redhed Art & Design branding board, along with Chat GPT generated branding after I gave it prompts about what I would want. Many of these are great options.

But an AI generated logo has its limits. Communicating your wants to AI can sometimes be confusing. Working with a real person can provide an overall better experience, and ensure you have everything you need for your brand.

The limitations of AI -and where a human designer comes in to play- is file creations for different variations or uses for your brand. As your business or project grows, you may need your logo at a larger resolution, or as a vector file for t-shirts, merch, vehicles magnets or stickers, or other print applications.

Enter Redhed Art & Design. I am happy to work with AI generated files and make them usable for any application. I won't charge an arm and a leg, and am willing to discuss your budget and see how we can work together. This is a no-judgement zone for how your current branding was created. I'm only interested in helping you feel confident that all your design needs are met, and providing excellent work.

BRAND HIGHLIGHT & DESIGN PROCESS
Have you ever wondered what the process for creating a brand or logo might be? Here is a snapshot into that process.
I was hired by a representative of the Southwest Brand of the International Dyslexia Association to create a logo that represented New Mexico and positive/forward movement of literacy.
Since the client didn't have any initial ideas for the logo, I started with a page of sketched thumbnails to get a sense of the direction they wanted to go. We had a phone call and discussed the different ideas, and the client chose the roadrunner and the sun rays to move forward with.
The client and I worked together closely to produce two rendered logos for the company to choose from. In the photos below, you can see the sun logo and roadrunner logo fleshed out for presentation to the company.
The sun rays were designed to represent the Zia sun from New Mexico's state flag, and the roadrunner (New Mexico's state bird) became more complex and dimensional than the original sketch.
The company ultimately chose the roadrunner, as they felt it best represented their state and forward movement of literacy.
There are many times when, as a designer, I would choose a different design direction. The final logo may be different from what I would have created if the decisions were fully mine, but it is a priority of Redhed Art & Design to deliver work that supports the client's vision, while also maintaining strong design integrity.
This was such a fun project to work on, and the company's mission of offering literacy support to people with dyslexia was something I was excited to support.

Redhed Art & Design is not a faceless design studio or firm where you’re left wondering who will be handling your projects. Its me! My name is Sara Elmore and I am the founder and owner of Redhed Art & Design.

I have been passionate about design since 2010 when I took my first graphic design course at our local central tech in high school.

Following high school I went to OSU Institute of Technology and received my Associate in Applied Science in Graphic Design in 2014.

From there I worked for two different design firms, and then took some time off (okay, YEARS off!) to be a stay at home mom with my kids.

Which brings us to now- I still have a passion for good design and I have a heart for connecting with churches, ministries, nonprofits, and small business to communicate their brand, mission, and vision for whatever project they have.

I thought today I would share an example of a branding board. Branding boards can look vastly different depending on the brand, and the designer creating the board. Typically, you will see the brand logo, logo variations, brand colors, font families used for the brand, and imagery/iconography to support the brand.

Brand boards are used to keep visual cohesion throughout a brand, and allow the brand identity to remain consistent across all spaces, both digital and print.
