There’s a story hidden in this photo.

Growing up in the south, there are certain things that never really leave you. One of them is family standing on the porch, waving goodbye, and watching you cross the road or make it safely home. It’s a simple act, but it’s one of love. A quiet way of saying, “I’m here, and I care.”

This image was taken from Faith’s mamaw’s back yard, just off the back porch. From this very spot, she likely watched her family come and go countless times through the years. She watched children grow up, celebrations unfold, gardens grow, and ordinary days become cherished memories.

Now, this photo captures Faith walking back toward her mom’s house, holding hands with her baby, her shoes dangling from her other hand. If Mamaw were still standing on that porch, she’d probably be calling out for her to put those shoes back on before she stepped on a bee.

It’s such an ordinary moment, but somehow it carries the weight of so many years, so much love, and so many memories.

When someone who was such a big part of your life is no longer here, the milestones can feel a little different. A little quieter. You find yourself wishing they could be standing on that porch one more time, watching another generation walk the same path.

But grief has a way of teaching us to look for reminders of what remains. We see it in the sweet smiles of our babies. We see it in flowers blooming beneath the warmth of God’s sunlight. We see it in the love that continues long after someone is gone.

This photo may be what Mamaw would have watched from her porch. But what she sees now is far greater… and somehow, that makes the empty places feel a little less empty.

Some people come into your life and become family, and that is exactly what Faith and Richard Alan are to me. Faith and I have been friends since high school and when she and Richard Alan first started dating, we made a pros and cons list deciding if she should go to his house for his birthday dinner. Little did we know, we’d be making very different lists many years later.

As I look through these photos celebrating their 5th wedding anniversary, I can’t help but feel incredibly blessed to have had a front-row seat to their story. I’ve watched their love grow from dating, to engagement, to a beautiful marriage, and then to becoming amazing parents. Seeing each chapter unfold has been one of the greatest joys of my life.

What I admire most about these two is the foundation they’ve built together. Through every season, every blessing, and every challenge, they’ve kept God at the center of it all. Their faith, commitment, and unwavering love for one another shine through in everything they do, and it’s truly inspiring to witness.

Faith and Richard Alan, I love your love. I love the way you support one another, encourage one another, and continue choosing each other every single day. The life you’ve built together is beautiful, and every accomplishment you’ve achieved along the way is so well deserved.

Congratulations on five wonderful years of marriage and on all you’ve accomplished together so far. Thank you for allowing me to document so many of your precious milestones. From your love story’s beginning, to welcoming your sweet baby into the world, I’ve cherished every moment. I cannot wait to continue capturing the memories still to come… the big milestones, the quiet moments, and everything in between. ❤️

When I was 30,
I thought I had time.

Time to slow down,
time to notice more,
time to hold on just a little longer
to the small hands reaching for mine.

But life didn’t ask me
if I was ready.

It just kept moving.

And those babies—
the ones who filled my days
and spilled crumbs across my floors—
they kept growing
right in front of me.

I remember the sound of their laughter
echoing through rooms
that feel too quiet now.

I remember being needed
in a way so constant,
so overwhelming…
I didn’t realize it was also sacred.

I remember wishing for a moment alone,
never knowing one day
I would sit in that silence
and ache for just one more interruption.

When I was 30,
I didn’t know
that the bedtime stories would end,
that the car seats would disappear,
that “watch me!” would turn into
“maybe next time.”

I didn’t know
that one day
I would watch them become parents—
moving the same way I once did,
loving with that same fierce, tired devotion.

And suddenly,
I wouldn’t just remember my 30s…

I would feel them.

In the way I hold their babies now.
In the way I linger a little longer
when tiny arms wrap around my neck.
In the way I don’t rush the moments
I once hurried through.

Because now I know—

Those ordinary days
were never ordinary.

They were everything.

And if I could go back,
just for a moment…

I wouldn’t change a thing.

I would just stay
a little longer.

Lately, these are the moments I’ve been holding onto the tightest.
Not the big milestones or the perfectly planned days… just the quiet little in-between moments. Hearing her laughter, seeing those tiny hands explore, watching her run around without a care in the world (or pants)… it feels like the whole world softens for a minute.

There’s so much noise and heaviness in life sometimes, but in moments like these, everything else fades into the background. All I can see is the goodness of God shining through this sweet little life He entrusted to us.

Time is precious, and I’m starting to think these small moments are truly the big ones. ❤️

There’s been a shift in my heart recently, and I think it’s time my business reflects that.

For years, I offered a little bit of everything - weddings, seniors, newborns, headshots, family sessions, etc. I’m so thankful for every person who trusted me to capture important moments in their lives.

After becoming a mom, I found an even deeper appreciation for love. Not just seeing it, but truly feeling it in the everyday moments we often overlook while we’re living them.
The quiet routines.
The crowded dinner tables.
The way a child reaches for their mama without thinking.
Grandparents sitting at the head of the table telling old stories.
Game nights at Mamaw’s house.
Bare feet running through the kitchen.
A tired dad rocking a sleepy baby before bed.
The laughter, the chaos, the comfort of simply just being together.
Those moments may seem ordinary now, but one day they become the memories we ache to hold onto.

I’ve always been sentimental and have invariably looked at old photographs and felt emotional knowing that for a split second, time stood still. That someone loved deeply there. That this life was real, meaningful, and full of connection and purpose.

And I’ve realized that’s the kind of work I want to create moving forward.
Not just photographs that look beautiful, but photographs that feel beautiful. Honest images filled with emotion, warmth, nostalgia, and love. The kind of images your children and grandchildren will treasure someday.

I truly believe God gave me this gift not just to take pictures, but to preserve the love people share with one another in a way that can be held onto forever. That means more to me now than ever before.

Moving forward, my focus is shifting toward documenting the beauty of real life as it is - the now, the ordinary, the deeply meaningful moments that become part of our family stories. Our time here is short, and the people and things we love deserve to be remembered exactly as they are 🤍
