Lightroom's AI Assisted Culling tool

I've been doing some digging into the new upgrade to Lightroom Classic V15.0.1, which I know some people have reported as being buggy, but so far so good with me and with some of my clients I've spoken to. One of the more intriguing new tools is the AI Assisted Culling tool, and if you're curious about how it works and a possible workflow for using it, I've created a blog post with a short video you can view here.

I’ve been seeing the words backup, archiving and legacy starting to be used interchangeably in a number of contexts, and I thought it was time to get some clarity on their definitions so that we all understand the importance of each, as well as the differences of each. I would love to hear your thoughts and experiences in this area, we can all learn more.

Today is World Backup Day, Yay. The recent fires here in LA gave us a terrible lesson in how fast everything can be gone. You can take simple steps to backup your computer and hard drives to a cloud platform, it may be the only way they survive in a disaster such as fire, flood or earthquake. Cloud backup can:
• Back up computers and EHDs
• Can restore older files
• Can restore entire system
• Encrypts files
• May be able to restore from shipped hard drive
• Limited or no Legacy succession
• Yearly fee (cheaper than cloud sync subscription)
• Good offsite backup option

Next Monday is World Backup Day so a few things this week to help you take some steps to back up your files and photos

A lot people use what are called Synch platforms as backup. These platforms are good for some things but aren’t a true backup. Here are some of the things they are good for and not good for.

• Share across devices
• Share with others
• Can restore some older files
• Cannot back up entire computer
• Cannot back up external hard drives
• Limited or no Legacy succession
• Monthly subscription
• Not a good backup option
