September 12th 2019, sweet baby Titus being brought back to mama after being weighed. Happy 1st birthday, cutie!

So it has been a year since I photographed a birth. I've been thinking about it a lot lately. The experience has changed quite a bit for birthing people and I am sure it isn't easy for anyone involved. I have faith things will change (soon???). I live in Portland now and I look forward to making connections here and hopefully having the honor of documenting one of life's most precious events again when it is safe to do so. In the meantime I remain inside my home photographing food, my garden, and my life. (Hop over to for all that).

I just wanted to take a moment to share some amazing organizations who are working for more equality in the birth sphere. As a birth photographer and daughter of a midwife, this topic is close to my heart. There is a staggering racial disparity in maternal healthcare and I encourage everyone to take some time to learn more about it. Change starts with awareness. ⁠
