Yesterday was an amazing day! Driving to work I spotted a Bald Eagle flying over the road in front of me after scavenging a meal. Sadly, no photos of the eagle while driving on the interstate. After work, I was in the perfect spot on the Maury River where I knew Great Blue Herons lived. The weather was cool and a nice breeze blew leaves onto the river. My first sighting was this Great Egret! I have never seen a Great Egret before and this one was absolutely beautiful! I continued down river and found this Great Blue Heron! Despite being well hidden behind brush, this heron appeared to be unhappy with my presence so I left after a few photos. I continued down river hoping for more herons, but had no luck. As I made my way back up river, I saw the heron had stayed close to where I had taken my photos. Farther up river, the egret was looking for a new spot to fish for a meal. I watched it as it made its way up river at a steady pace taking photos between the bushes and trees as it appeared in small clear spots. This Great Egret made my day yesterday, because it was not at all bothered by my presence.
