Landscape photography that involves water and light are always fun to shoot, especially this one from Manarola Cinque Terre in the Tuscany region of Italy. Shot taken in September 2024 in the late afternoon, after the early morning downpour, with the golden sun light shining on the main city center and bordered by the Ligurian sea that was cold and bluish. Using the widest 24mm focal length of the 24-105mm RF kit lens at F5.66 aperture. The different house colors up and down the coastal hill were a bonus. We had to literally jump off our tour boats to and out of this town but it was definitely an adventure. Enjoy πŸ˜‰

The next upload is a celebration of the golden hour exploding upon a canvas of colors and blues and water and skies and as a result, you get that magnificent view of the the town of Oia in a soon to be sunset view on the island of Santorini in Greece. This photo was taken in October 2019 amidst crowds of people angling for the same shot. Sometimes its better to be lucky than good. The timing of the shot was definitely on point. Enjoy 😎 πŸ“Έ

Astrophotography is an exercise in patience and knowing exactly when to shoot and knowing the photography basics since you will need to shoot full manual. This moon shot was taken sometime in August 2025 on the Canon R5 with the RF 200-800mm telephoto lens at 5000 ISO, F11 aperture, 1/8192 seconds shutter speed, at full 800mm focal length. The night sky was amazingly clear and the shot was timed at around 9:57pm. Notice the moon edges captured with the craters showing distinct shapes and lines. Enjoy πŸ˜ŽπŸ“Έ

The golden hour, the best time for photography, is usually an hour after sunrise, or an hour before sunset. In this case, shooting the Eiffel Tower in Paris, France before sunset. The warmth, the low sun, and the soft golden hues creates the unmistakable presence and airy skyline that is really hard to miss. This picture was taken sometime in September 2015 and the precision with the golden sky and the golden reflections on the steel tower is amazing. Once in a lifetime shot. Enjoy πŸ˜ŽπŸ“Έ

For this upload, a slight crop for top and bottom creates an illusion of wideness even if the actual focal length was only around 28mm. This is the Schloss-SchΓΆnbΓΌhel Castle on the Danube River between Melk and Vienna, Austria. The picture was taken while cruising the famous Danube River all the way to Vienna on a riverboat. One of my favorite examples on proper cropping for landscape photography. Enjoy πŸ˜ŽπŸ“Έ

My latest upload is an example of selective coloring using masking of the jousters and keeping the rest of the picture in black and white. In Luminar Neo, this is a fairly straightforward reverse selected masking of the subjects after the whole picture has been updated to black and white only. This update is a favorite of mine as it highlights and focuses the front subjects without losing the background as secondary and the crowd as complementary pieces. This picture was taken around September 2024 at the Maryland Renaissance Festival

This upload is my photo shoot of the Schmid family back in July 2018 and it was my first photo shoot ever other than family members. Overall it went pretty well. The black and white composition is a favorite shot and actually makes them look like a rock band posing for an album. Although I could have composed the shadows better, maybe using Rembrandt lighting on the faces, we were outside at a farm, and I didn't have auxiliary lights or flashes or reflectors back then.

For this shot, I used my good old Canon 6D Mark II DSLR with the 'nifty-fifty' Canon EF F1.8 50mm lens. I have long since sold both for the mirrorless Canon EOS R5 and for the RF F1.8 mm, but the Canon line always performs, always true, and timeless. Enjoy πŸ˜ŽπŸ“Έ

The next upload is one of my first shots that made it to an actual canvas. Now its hanging on one of my walls in the dining room. Landscape photography has always been my fascination and this shot of the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, CA atop Battery Spencer sometime in November 2015 is one of my faves. On Aperture Priority mode using my favorite Canon RF 24-105mm F4L lens. Great times with my tennis brothers on a boys trip out west. Perfect shot with the perfect light and weather. The sailboat underneath the bridge was a bonus. Enjoy πŸ˜ŽπŸ“Έ

My next upload is an example of street photography and this street scene on July 2018 in the middle of the Gothic area of Barcelona, Spain is my favorite. Nice soft light coming from the back with the long shadows, but with the nuns still predominantly in front and center. After I took this pic, one of the nuns actually made a sign of the cross to me... not sure if that was good or bad. The Canon RF 50mm F1.8 lens was perfect for this shot. Enjoy πŸ˜ŽπŸ“Έ

My latest picture upload is an another example of low Shutter Priority Mode setting and the blurring of motion to soften the Hawk Falls waterflow. This waterfall photo was taken sometime in August 2021 at Albrightsville, PA near the Pocono mountains. Located at the trail end of the Hickory Run State Park, we had to hike a mile and half through lush vegetation to get to this beautiful wonder. Water was cold but I had the best seat in the house, and right in front of the falls, and had to take the shots.

For this shot, I used the Canon RF24-105mm F4L lens with shutter speeds of either .5 or 1 second. Enjoy πŸ˜ŽπŸ“Έ
