Every autumn, there are a few local photos I just have to make. Honestly, I feel like I’ve run out of different ways to photograph a few local spots. Maybe I’m too self critical. Maybe I don’t need to look for new ways to reinvent the wheel. Maybe a good photo should be just that & repeated as necessary.

It’s been dreary and overcast the last few days & we’re getting to the end of fall color season.
It’s a good time for sunrise & sunsets, but it’s also a good time for detail shots. These never seem to do very well for me on the socials, but it’s still fun to get up close, see & photograph things in a different way.

Today is Indigenous People’s Day. A day where we honor, pay respect & reverance to our Indigenous relatives. These people have inhabited these lands for upwards of 20,000 years. They know the land. They know how to work with mother earth to thrive in accordance with her rather than seeing our home planet as a place to be divided & conquored.

I used to think of fall as “local summer.” That time when the weather is still amazing, but the crowds are gone.
That seems to have changed around here the last 2 years. It seems now with all the autumn events & influencers hyping this place up for the vacation rental companies, it’s just as packed on the weekends as it is during the summer.
Hopefully we locals get a good weather window between now & deer hunting where we get to enjoy the peace and quiet before the isolation of winter.
