Last week, I had a conversation with my interpreter at work, and we were talking about how a different restaurant had updated their website with new pictures. They were obviously taken with a cell phone, and she thought they looked good. Then I showed her the pictures I took at that same restaurant, and she was like, “Whoa! That made me drool! Now I want to eat that!”

It’s amazing how much of a difference pictures can make.

A few days ago, I saw URBurger post their October specials, and their bourbon chicken sandwich stood out to me because it sounded amazing. Then I looked at their picture and thought, "I know I can do better than that"! So after work today, I drove there for lunch.

I ordered their bourbon chicken sandwich, and they brought it to my table pretty quickly. I took a bite, and I had forgotten how delicious their food was after not having one of their burgers for months. I still remember how good the BBQ sauce was on their Wrangler Burger!

But let’s talk about this chicken sandwich.

The chicken itself had a nice crispiness and just the right amount of meat without being as thick as Popeyes’ crispy chicken sandwich. Their bourbon sauce was amazing, just like every other sauce they make! It had a nice, smooth, smoky flavour with the right balance of sweetness and syrupiness along with some nice spices.

Their pretzel bun was pretty good too! It made the sandwich feel more unique instead of using the same kind of bun you get with other burgers. It was a nice touch.

And the fries? Nicely seasoned and crispy as usual.

If this picture and my description of their sandwich aren’t enough to motivate you, just FYI: they have $1 wings every Thursday, as long as you order a minimum of 8 wings.

Their wings have a nice smoky flavour, and I think they have some of the best wings around here. I mean, $8 for 8 wings? That’s a WAY better deal than paying something like $16–$18 for 8 wings!

This is a no-brainer.

You guys should go to URBurger for dinner tonight. 😉

Gestern war der Tag der Deutschen Einheit! Ich habe ihn wie immer im Old Stein Inn gefeiert und mein Lieblingsgericht bestellt: Jägerschnitzel mit Käsespätzle. Es ist unglaublich, dass es schon 36 Jahre her ist, seit Deutschland wiedervereinigt wurde.

I had an opportunity to take photos of a lovely senior more than a week ago who loves caring for the animals at The Big Purple Barn, A Sanctuary and reading all kinds of books. I was told she is a very creative person, and her mother gave me permission to go crazy with my editing style since she hired an artist! It felt great not to be held back creatively.

Today is the first day of the American Cancer Society’s October Photo-a-Day Challenge, and today also happens to be National Homemade Cookie Day! I decided to give my orange creamsicle cookies another shot.

I’ve been craving orange cookies ever since Giant stopped selling my favourite cookies (sugar cookies with orange-flavoured frosting) a while ago. Last time I made them, the middle of my cookies was gooey, like they were undercooked. Baking cookies was always my dad’s speciality.

This time, I decided to tweak my recipe a bit, and I used a wire rack to let the cookies cool down. They turned out AMAZING!!! In fact, I literally already ate four of the cookies I brought to work… I don’t regret it. 😅

I think I’ll make dark chocolate chip mint cookies next.

Since autumn is here, I plan on getting out and about more often. I love Halloween and pretty much anything related to autumn, especially the colourful leaves.

If you’re looking for new pictures, I’m available!

I’m a deaf German photographer, and I try to keep my photography affordable and accessible for everyone.

My current rates are:
• $100 for an individual session
• $150 for a family session
• $200–$500 for private events, such as parties or small weddings

I’d also LOVE for my clients to bring props - something that represents who you are, something related to your hobbies, or even a Halloween costume! I think adding something personal makes the photos much more fun and gives me more opportunities to get creative with my editing.

Outside of paid sessions, I often photograph community events and sporting events for free because I enjoy being involved in the community and capturing those moments.

This autumn, I would especially love to book plenty of sessions and keep myself busy. My dad passed away at the end of October last year, so this time of year is going to be a difficult one for me. Photography gives me something positive and creative to focus on.

Whether you want autumn portraits, Halloween photos, family pictures, senior photos, sports, costumes, or something completely different, I’d love to hear your ideas.
