Ok my camera-toting-ninjas ... I'm looking for an upgrade to my tripod status. I was definitely riding front-seat on the struggle-bus this morning attempting to shoot the "blood moon."
I did figure (too late to get any decent shots) what some of my mistakes were, however the biggest struggle was precisely aiming the camera. The adjustment (pan & tilt) on my trusty Vivitar tripod are just clunky and NOT precise.
Looking to upgrade/modernize. Requirements (this is always subject to smarter folks)
1. Height suitable for someone who's 6'1" tall
2. Stable. 3 sections or less.
3. Head is easily and precisely adjustable. Not sure if fluid, ball or gear head is the way to go.
4. Don't care about weight. I'm not backpacking with this one. My Vivitar is light and stable.
Probably not going to be using this for motorsports photography, but for landscapes and primarily astro-photography.
Thanks for your inputs/opinions!!
