To me, this just screams “80’s mall vibes.” The Dunham’s Sports in Crawfordsville, Indiana takes residence inside the former JC Penney’s location inside the Crawfordsville Square Shopping Center. Fun fact: the center, which is now a strip mall, originally opened in 1968 as Boulevard Mall, an early Simon Property Group indoor shopping center.

I am running a special right now. You can own an 11x14 print of this photo in a black matted frame for $50. Deal runs through next weekend!

TEXTURE
Iron panes on frosted glass on the Journal Review Building in downtown Crawfordsville, IN. The building was built in the 1930’s as the armory but became the newspaper office several decades ago. I just love the textures in this photo.

On my was home from my job as a teacher today, a song came on my Spotify playlist that I love. “Be Afraid” by Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit. I LOVE Isbell and I relate to this song in some way.

I have learned to do things while very afraid over the last few months and it has been one of the most gratifying, empowering things I have learned to do. Here’s to many more adventures and experiences.

“Be afraid, be very afraid
But do it anyway, do it anyway”

I’m wish I had something thoughtful and deep to say about this photo from the Indiana State Sanatorium but I don’t, so I’ll be childish instead.

1995 called and they want their office setup back!

LOOKING UP:

Looking up at the main staircase in the administration building at the Indiana State Sanatorium. Take a moment and think about how many people walked up and down these stairs. Doctors. Nurses. Office staff. Even patients getting x-rays. This staircase has seen happiness as people found out they would live or have a chance to overcome TB and it has also seen sadness as people were told they need to get their final business in order.

This place truly has seen a range of emotion and there’s no telling what kind of energies these building materials have absorbed over the last 110 years.

The historic Yountsville bridge in October 2019. The bridge was built in the early 1940’s as a replacement for a covered bridge that spanned Sugar Creek at the same spot.

While climbing down to the creek to get this shot, I almost fell down but the result was worth it!
