I attended a funeral recently, and a family member came up to me with tears in their eyes. They told me how thankful they were for the photos I had taken, how those images were some of the last good memories they had of their loved one. Moments frozen in time that they now hold so close to their heart.
It made me pause and really take in the weight of what we do as photographers. Sometimes, without even knowing it, we are documenting someone’s final chapter, their last laugh, the way they looked at the people they loved, the little moments that now mean everything. These photos become more than memories, they become treasures. A way to feel close to someone, even when they’re gone.
We don’t always think about it in the moment, but every click of the shutter holds weight. We’re preserving the way someone laughed, the way they held your hand, the way they looked at you with love. It’s more than just a job. It’s a gift to freeze time, to document the fleeting, to give people something to hold onto when memories start to fade.
Photos become priceless when the people in them are no longer with us. And that’s why this work matters so much. And I just want to say, I don’t take this lightly. I’m incredibly thankful to be invited into these moments, both big and small. It’s an honor to witness love, legacy, and life through my lens. This career has given me so much more than I ever imagined, and I’m endlessly grateful to do this work🎞️🕊️
Adding these photos below of my beautiful grandparents who I just seriously adore!!!
