There’s something special about getting to photograph a family again and seeing just how much can change in a year.

The first time I met the Perlt family, I wasn’t even photographing them! I was at Lake Rebecca Park in Hastings for another family’s session when I spotted Dad fishing with the two boys while Mom wore their sweet baby girl. It was one of those little snapshots of family life that sticks with you, and I remember thinking how sweet it was. Then, Mom reached out shortly afterwards (found me through Google!) and asked for their own photos, which we took last summer.

Fast-forward a year, and there we were again at Lake Rebecca Park, this time capturing the Perlt family themselves on a beautiful fall evening!

Meet Miguel! He’s an East Ridge High School senior with a pretty exciting future ahead of him.

Miguel is a first-generation American, with family roots in the Philippines. One of the highlights of his summer was getting to travel to the Philippines in June for a family reunion with at least 30 people! I imagine that’s the kind of trip that gives you plenty of stories and memories to bring home.

Senior photos are even better when you get to do them with your cousin.

We had the perfect fall weather, plenty of laughs, and a pretty great system: one in front of the camera, one hyping him up from the sidelines… complete with a dap-up every time they switched.

Just two cousins enjoying a beautiful fall evening and making some memories along the way. So fun getting to capture this season for both of them! 🤎
