Rosalinda Garcia Chavez, age 78, of Cottage Grove, passed away peacefully on September 24th, 2021.
Rose was born in Brownsville, Texas and lived in California prior to moving to Cottage Grove, MN and enjoying the past 45 years in a community she loved.
Rose was a sweet, caring and loving woman who always put others first. She was a supportive and encouraging wife, mother and friend to all; with a special place in her heart for cats. She had an infectious smile, sense of humor and was the epitome of humble.
One of Rose’s passions was volunteering. She spent much of her life volunteering at the Friends in Need Foodshelf (St. Paul Park), St. Rita’s Church and across various music and sports activities at the schools in District 833 that her three daughters attended.
She was a devout Catholic and her Faith was demonstrated daily through her actions and love of others.
She is preceded in death by her husband, George L Chavez; father, Rosalio Garcia; mother, Carmen P Garcia.
Rose is survived by her daughters, Christina (Mike) Broeker, Yvonne (Greg) Miller, and Elizabeth Anderson; grandchildren, Erica, Joshua, Alexander, Maria, Daylia, Corina, Brooke and Evan; sister, Amelia (Mike) Zsori; brother, Martin (Janice) Garcia; cat (Lily).
Please join the family in celebrating Rose on Monday, September 27th, 4-6 pm at Highlands Park (6975 Idsen Ave S, Cottage Grove, MN 55016). We will have an ‘ice cream toast’ in her honor and remember the joy she brought to our lives.
Rose will be laid to rest at Fort Snelling National Cemetery later this year with her husband George.
In remembrance of Rose’s life, the family asks that any charitable donations be made in memory of Rose to The Friends in Need Foodshelf or the Animal Humane Society.

Hello everyone!

We are still planning on having a Celebration of Life for George on his birthday ~ July 31, 2020 from 4-8pm.
We are asking people to wear a mask to the event with the exception of when you are eating or drinking. There will be disposable masks available if you need one. We understand if you do not feel comfortable attending with COVID concerns. We want to keep everyone safe and healthy!
We will have a prayer at 6pm and then we will welcome anyone who would like to share stories of George.
At 7pm a mariachi band will be in attendance to perform.
El Burrito Food Truck will be at the event serving George's favorite foods from 4-8pm.

Hello family and friends,

We wanted to touch base with everyone and let you know what our plans are to celebrate George. We are planning a Celebration of Life get together for George on his birthday ~ July 31. We are planning on having it at the Power’s Lake Pavilion (10000 Brookview Rd) Woodbury, MN from 4-8pm.

Yvonne and her family will be coming up here after settling into their new home and Yvonne’s new assignment in San Antonio, Texas.

Rose moved into a Senior Living Community in Eagan close to Christina’s house. She is in a one bedroom apartment at The Commons on Marice. Her new address is 1380 Marice Drive #453, Eagan MN 55121 https://commonsonmarice.org Once her phone is set up we will send out her phone number. We will let you know when she can have visitors, right now COIVD restrictions are still in place.

I know people are feeling frustrated, scared and cooped up. I thought this would be a great project during time at home. If you know George Chavez and would like to share a story or two of him you can write him a letter and mail it (I can provide the address if needed), or put it on his Caring Bridge page and Liz and I will share all the stories with him and Rose. You can also DM/PM me or Elizabeth Anderson and we will make sure he gets it. I have been printing out and putting all the Caring Bridge comments for him in a binder so he can look at them whenever he wants to. ❤️

We wanted to let George Chavez's friends and family know that George had surgery to cut out some of the tumor in his brain that had started to grow. The surgery went great and he is doing really well and resting. He will be at United for 3-5 days. I will let people know if he is up to having visitors. Just a warning ⚠️- You may have your picture taken! 😉📸
