Getting to photograph this maternity session for my sweet friend and fellow photographer was so incredibly special to me

There are some seasons in life where you pray quietly and hope deeply for the people you love, and this pregnancy has been one of those prayers for me.

Documenting these moments for someone who spends so much of her own life capturing everyone else’s memories felt like such an honor. The joy, the love, the anticipation, it was all so tangible during this session, and I’m still not over how beautiful it was.

Something about a backyard wedding that just hits differently

No grand ballroom, no over-the-top production, just the people who matter most, gathered in a space that already holds so many memories. This day felt slow in the best way. Intentional. Personal. Every detail reflected them, from the way they laughed with their families to the quiet, in-between moments that might’ve gone unnoticed in a bigger setting.

This wedding reminded me how special these intimate celebrations really are. When you strip a wedding down to its core, what’s left is something incredibly meaningful. There’s no pressure to perform, just space to be fully present, fully in love, and fully yourselves.

I already shared the little film from Alyssa & Justin’s session (still not over that dreamy, nostalgic feel 🥹), but while we were out there capturing their pregnancy announcement, they added on a handful of photos, and I’m finally getting around to sharing a few of my favorites from that evening ✨

This session was everything I love about golden hour. The light was soft and glowy.

I love documenting this in-between moment, right before everything changes. Right before late nights, newborn snuggles, and a whole new rhythm begins again.

Alyssa & Justin, I’m so excited for you guys as your family of three becomes a family of four 🤍 This next chapter is going to be so full of love.

Little postcards from Courtney + Ryan’s day.

There are some wedding days that just stay with you and Courtney & Ryan’s was absolutely one of them 🤍

Above the ocean at the Bel-Air Bay Club, their entire day felt like something out of a dream.

But what got me the most was the moment when Ryan saw Courtney for the first time walking down the aisle. The emotion on his face said everything. It was raw, heartfelt, and one of those reminders of why I love what I do so much. Getting to witness and capture moments like that is something I’ll never take for granted.

And then… the reception. So much joy, so much energy, and the kind of celebration you wish you could bottle up and relive forever. These two know how to throw a party, and every second of it was magic.

Courtney & Ryan, what a day. What a love. What a privilege to capture it 🤍

Last night felt like a movie. I got to photograph my in-laws out in the desert, There’s something so special about documenting people you love in a place that feels wild and free.

Second post from this wedding I second shot with and this one is all about the getting ready part of the day.

I always end up loving this portion of weddings because it’s slower and there’s time to notice the little things, the dress hanging in the window, details laid out, bridesmaids chatting while hair and makeup is happening. This room had the most beautiful light pouring in through the windows and it made everything feel so soft and calm before the day really got going.

Good window light seriously makes such a difference for photos, and it’s one of the reasons I love photographing weddings here in Southern California. Between the sunshine and all the amazing venues and there are so many opportunities for really natural, light-filled images.

I also love being able to focus on the small details during this time, they’re such a big part of telling the full story of a wedding day. The quiet moments at the beginning always end up being some of my favorites to look back on.

Some weddings make it obvious within the first five minutes that this is their person. The way they look at each other, the inside jokes and the uncontrollable emotion that just keeps spilling over.

From the very first look (tears from both of them immediately 😭) to the vows, the speeches, this was a day full of the kind of emotion you can’t fake. The kind that shows up when you genuinely like each other, laugh together easily, and feel safe enough to feel everything out loud.
