That’s the way of the world. No matter how strong you are or how firmly you stand, one day, your glory will fade, and all that remains will be a memory. Even the strongest fortresses eventually crumble, and every story, no matter how grand, eventually comes to an end.

ارگ هرات، یا قلعه اختیارالدین، یکی از ماندگارترین نمادهای تاریخ و فرهنگ هرات است. این دژ کهن با دیوارهای بلند و برج‌های استوار، روایتگر قرن‌ها تاریخ و نمونه‌ای ارزشمند از معماری دفاعی افغانستان است. ارگ هرات با پیشینه‌ای که به دوران باستان بازمی‌گردد، امروز نیز یکی از مهم‌ترین جاذبه‌های تاریخی و فرهنگی این شهر به شمار می‌رود.
