Long-ish post, AI worries, and me-to-you reassurance...
I have a confession... For a little over a year and a half, I have had a strong majority of my clients request that their images not be shared online. I ALWAYS honor this request. I started viewing it as a hurdle: how can I show people what I do if I have nothing to show them? I honestly started doubting myself and my future in this industry. Add that to some recent life worries, and I deflated, to say the least. AI is really crushing a lot of forms of art. And yes, photography is an art.
I've worked *hard* over the years (decade + realistically) to build everything I am and do from nothing more than myself. My hopes, my skills, my desire to give you something to cherish for the rest of your life, and even the family you leave behind when that life is over. It's hard to watch technology come in and try to steal all that away.
But... BUT! A conversation with a friend yesterday - a fellow mom, business owner, role model for my daughter, and so many more things - gave me a new perspective. I can embrace this new world where we UNDERSTANDABLY don't want our children online. There is so much evil and creepiness out there. But, there's also so much good. And we can be some of that good together. I have never viewed myself as "the photographer who HONORS your wishes to keep your kids away from the internet but I CAN AND WILL still be a part of your photos!" And I AM that. I haven't ever viewed it as something to brag about.
I do now, though. And, I want to show you there ARE ways to share your precious little people with the world while ALSO protecting them - if you want to.
Remember, complete privacy is fine and I am STILL here for you. I just want to show you, and myself, there are still ways to be present online with that privacy also respected. And with that, I give you, an example of what I mean. Here is the one I have to thank for the positive spin on this situation. Our local, very loved by the community Miss Meg , of , in her most important role as of yet (and she has a LOT!): when she brought her baby girl into this world and became a mama on top of everything else ❤
