🚨LONG POST 🚨
I’ve rewritten this caption probably a hundred times in my head, because I don’t think there are enough words to explain how big this moment feels.
But here it goes… DC Photography is officially my full-time job. 😭🤍
I’ve been in the medical field since I was 20 years old. For so long, it was the path I knew. It was comfortable, familiar, and a huge part of who I became as an adult. After three years at driscoll children’s hospital, it’s finally time for me to say goodbye to this season of my life.
A little over a year ago, I finally trusted myself enough to create DC Photography.
I had no idea what I was doing. I didn’t know where it would take me. I definitely never imagined that in such a short amount of time, so many of you would trust me with some of the most important moments of your lives. You let me into pieces of your lives that you can never get back, and trusted me to preserve them for you.
Over time, balancing photography with working in the medical field became harder and harder. Not because I wasn’t giving DC Photography everything I could but because the medical field can take so much out of you mentally, physically, and emotionally. I started realizing that I wanted to know what DC Photography could become if, for once, I gave my dream my entire heart instead of whatever energy I had left over.
Am I scared? Absolutely. 😂
There is so much I still have to learn, and I know there will be mistakes, growing pains, scary months, incredible months, and probably plenty of moments where I wonder what the heck I got myself into.
But I would rather try and find out than spend the rest of my life wondering what if? I want to build something I’m proud of. I want to keep learning, creating, pushing myself creatively, meeting new people, telling your stories, and becoming a better photographer and business owner along the way.
& YOU are the reason I get to make this announcement. There truly would be no DC Photography without you.
Here’s to taking chances even when they scare you. Here’s to closing chapters that were good to us so we can make room for the ones we’re meant to write. I am committed to putting my entire being, energy, creativity, and love into this little business of mine.
Someone pinch me!!!!!!
