No matter the outcome of any game, there will always be a winner and there will always be a loser. That’s the reality of sports. But when a season carries you all the way to the very last game possible, when you earn the right to compete for a state championship, that is a season you should be incredibly proud of.

To get there takes more than talent. It takes countless hours of work when no one is watching. It takes sacrifice, commitment, discipline, and believing in one another. It means putting your heart on the line and accepting the possibility of heartbreak in pursuit of something special. That’s the gamble every athlete takes.

Was it worth it?
I’d say the friendships, the memories, the laughter on bus rides, the practices, the victories, the lessons learned, and the moments shared together make that answer an easy one: absolutely.

The hardest part about sports is that every journey eventually comes to an end. No one truly prepares you for the last game until suddenly, it is the last game. The final out. The last time putting on the uniform. The last time taking the field with the teammates who became family.

The emotions that follow are real. The emptiness. The disappointment. The realization that for some of you, it was the final time stepping onto a baseball field as a high school athlete.

But don’t let the final score define what this season was.
An undefeated regular season. A run to the State Championship. A group of players who believed in one another and represented their school, community, coaches, and families with pride. What you accomplished this season was extraordinary.

Be proud.

Be proud of the long practices, the sacrifices, and the commitment it took to get here. Be proud of the adversity you overcame. Be proud that you gave so much of yourselves to something bigger than any one individual.

Championships are remembered, but so are the teams that leave a legacy. This group did exactly that.

The ending may not have been the one you dreamed of, but don’t let that overshadow the story you wrote along the way.
Congratulations on an incredible season. Hold your heads high. What you built together can never be taken away.

A pretty special group of guys! This group was my first Plebe group that I got the honor & privilege to cover all 4 years of their baseball career at West Point!

There really are no words to describe the heart, kindness, fun & beyond they bring. The many smiles & laughter from flying like Superman into 2nd base, flexing in media day photos, eyes open, and just tell them you’re my aunt to many other moments that I will cherish for a lifetime!

Thank you, seniors, for an incredible four years. It has been so special watching your journey, and I’m beyond grateful to have been a small part of it. Wishing each of you nothing but success in whatever comes next!

Last Firstie session of 2026.

To the many Firsties who trusted me to capture such an incredible milestone — thank you. It has truly been an honor to help freeze these final moments in time and document the closing chapter of your last 47 months at West Point.

As you step into what comes next, I hope you take a moment to pause and reflect on the extraordinary journey that lies ahead. For some of you, this was our first time meeting, and I genuinely enjoyed getting to learn even a small piece of your story. For others, I’ve had the privilege of watching you grow from Plebes into the remarkable young men and women you are today.

I’ll miss the familiar faces, the hugs, the fist bumps, and even the simple nods in passing. Your journey here was never lost on me. I know there were moments that tested you, challenged you, and pushed you further than you ever imagined — but look at you now.
Be proud. Soak this all in. Celebrate this moment because YOU did it.

Heading into today’s Senior Game for this group of baseball players and getting to hear the stories behind the names on their camo jerseys was truly special. Honoring our veterans — those who chose to serve and sacrificed more than most of us will ever fully comprehend — is something I will always deeply cherish.

My father served in the military, and through my own experiences spending so much time around those at West Point, I’ve gained a level of respect that’s hard to even put into words.

Thank you to these seniors for taking the time to share YOUR reason. It gave all of us just a small glimpse into your world and allowed us to learn a little more about who you are beyond the game.

Enjoy every moment today. Celebrate with your teammates, coaches, classmates, friends, and families. Senior Day only happens once. 🇺🇸⚾

The name on the back of the camo jersey that Senior Aaden Hershberger plays for..

The name that I chose to wear on the back of my jersey represents my Grandfather, Robert Hershberger who was a Lt. Col. In the U.S Army.

As a chaplain, he served as the morale officer for many units. The soldiers he served were members of medical units. He completed his commitment to this mission after 26 years.

For 33 years, he served as a bedside chaplain to hospitalized veterans who needed care through VA Medical Centers.

Papa, our country, our veterans and their families, and our communities owe you a debt of gratitude. Our family is proud of you! Thank you for your service!

The name on the back of the camo jersey that Senior Richie Roohan plays for..

I chose to put my grandpa’s last name, McGinn, on my jersey because he means a lot to me. He served our country, and I really admire the sacrifice and dedication he showed throughout his life. He has always been someone I look up to because of the kind of man he is and the example he sets.

I wear his name on my jersey to honor his legacy and show respect for everything he stands for. Every time I wear my jersey, it reminds me to work hard and make him proud.

The name on the back of the camo jersey that Senior Hunter Salisbury plays for..

Sadly I didn’t have the honor of ever meeting my Grandpa Herb. I chose to honor him on my varsity baseball jersey because his life represents perseverance, sacrifice, and selflessness. He left school in 4th grade to be able to work and provide for his family. He came from almost nothing, yet he built a life defined by service and determination. He entered the Army, not for the glory, but the ability to send money back to his family.

When I wear his name, I am reminded to never take opportunities for granted, to work hard even when things are difficult, and to represent my family with pride. His story inspires me to push myself both on and off the field, and I hope to carry the same strength and character that he showed throughout his life.

I chose #15 because my Aunt Tracy passed away when she was 15.

The name on the back of the camo jersey that Senior Aiden Seaman plays for..

I chose Howard Seaman, my Grandfather, to honor his Military Service. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1965 and later served two tours during the Vietnam War. He spent much of his time working on helicopters in extremely demanding conditions, helping keep operations running smoothly under constant pressure. The job required long hours, discipline, and the ability to remain calm during attacks and emergencies. Each day brought new challenges, including intense heat, exhaustion, and the constant possibility of danger. Despite these hardships, he remained committed to his responsibilities and the men serving beside him. His service demonstrated resilience, dedication, and a strong sense of duty under some of the toughest conditions imaginable. This experience later prepared him for a long and successful career as an aviation mechanic for United Airlines.

The name on the back of the camo jersey that Senior Danny Twomey plays for..

I chose the name Fiori to honor my great-grandfather, Timothy J. Fiori. A lifelong New Yorker, he was born in Manhattan and raised in Brooklyn before settling on Staten Island for 40 years. After graduating from St. John’s University.

He served as a navigator (QMZ) in the Navy’s Pacific theatre during WWl. Upon returning home, he played AAA baseball for a year before embarking on a distinguished career with the NYPD, where he rose to the rank of Sergeant. I chose this name to carry forward his legacy of dedication and service.
