’Twas the Night Before School 🍎✏️
’Twas the night before school, and all through the house,
The backpacks were waiting, the rooms growing quiet.
New sneakers stood ready, all shiny and clean,
For a brand-new adventure and all yet unseen.
The lunches were packed and the outfits laid out,
While little hearts wondered what school was about.
New teachers, new classrooms, new friends they might meet,
New stories and memories just waiting complete.
But down in the hallway, a mama stood still,
Wondering how time could move quite at its will.
Wasn’t it yesterday, small hands held on tight?
And now here we are on this back-to-school night.
Tomorrow they’ll wake with excitement and cheer,
While Mama may quietly blink back a tear.
Because growing is beautiful, wonderful too,
But sometimes it hurts watching childhood move through.
So tonight, hold them closer and kiss them once more,
Before backpacks and sneakers go flying out the door.
Take one little picture, remember them small,
The messy-haired mornings, the laughter, it all.
For someday these school nights will quietly end,
And those tiny backpacks will be gone once again.
So here’s to tomorrow, to all that’s in store,
And the little ones growing just a little bit more. 🍎.
Hug your babies extra tight tonight. They’re another grade older!
