Such a fun shoot with one of Long Islands “Fannilows”. Love what Alexa C did with the footage I shot for this piece. She edited my clips into a song worth seeing;).

Lori McGill, of Kings Park, is a bona fide fanilow. She has met Barry Manilow 19 times and has seen him in concert hundreds of times.

Oysters are filter feeders, meaning they pull water through their bodies to eat tiny particles like algae and plankton. A single oyster can filter up to 50 gallons of water per day, helping to:
• Improve water clarity
• Reduce excess nutrients (like nitrogen and phosphorus)
• Prevent harmful algal blooms

On a chilly March morning I set out on an oyster boat with to check on the farm with Grady Poele. The frigid temperatures of this past winter has wrecked havoc on oyster farms on Long Island but all is not lost.

I met the bearded seamen at a bay on the side of a road off the beaten track in Peconic while the sun peaked over the horizon. I stepped onto the rail-less, mud-covered, table tennis sized ‘boat’ and off we went at pace that felt fast.

While Grady pulled up the pods the remove the mud that was suffocating his family’s crop, I did my best to not fall off the side and into the cold water and capture stills and video. It was a challenge I was up for. The warm light, the setting and the subject was a photographic dream.

Being on the edge, in the elements, close to nature made me feel so alive and super stoked to be there. And I took some great photos and video. What a harvest;). Shoutout to all the farmers doing what they gotta do to survive and share the bounty of this Island with all of us.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day from this wild lepr echaun aka as my Irish mother would call me. Out here in these streets doing my thing. I know you protecting me and are proud. Im doing it momma.
