I have always believed a strong portrait should do more than show what someone looks like. It should suggest something about who they are.

What drew me to this image was its calm, confidence, and presence. I’m grateful it was recognized and thankful for the chance to keep creating work like this

I’m grateful to have received Second Place in the Reportage category at the 2026 Professional Photographers of Iowa competition for Locked in the Moment.

What I value about images like this is that they cannot be forced. You have to be present, ready, and paying attention when the moment arrives.

That is part of what keeps photography so meaningful to me. Real moments. Real energy. Real story.

This image reflects what I love about landscape photography. Strength. Patience. Quiet presence. The kind of beauty that does not need to announce itself.

I’m grateful to share that my work was recognized at the 2026 Professional Photographers of Iowa image competition.

This year, I received:

First Place in the Nature/Landscape category, The Architecture of Endurance

Second Place in the Reportage category, Locked in the Moment

Third Place in the Man category, Strength in Stillness

I was also honored with a 2026 PPI Top Ten Award.

As a Master Photographer, I care deeply about creating images with strength, story, and lasting impact. It means a lot to have this work recognized by my peers.
