On this day 10 years ago , Kelly lake was a favorite drive of mine (22miles) , but a major forest fire destroyed almost all the spruce trees shown here in 2019 (swan lake forest fire) , pictures such as this made that drive will worth it for the most part

When i encountered these bears , it was the one and only bark my dog would let out putting me on notice of these approaching brown bears . Six inches of snow had fallen this 17th day of October 2016 which muffled all other sounds that may have alerted me otherwise. They walked through and choose the road i drove in on to exit the area

The new by pass highway through Cooper landing has its advantages, as seen here , it sits above the kenai rivers basin and is clear of fog as the existing highway lays adjacent to the highway under a fog cover

The lake seen to the rear center is where this creek originates, that’s Juneau lake where two forest service cabins are for rent ,
I had the privilege of hunting and fishing (gathering ) out of our cabin from the late 1950’s to appx when the forest service cabin burnt our original log cabin early 1980’s .The “Romig Cabin” and the Juneau lake cabin sit on opposite ends of the lake .Juneau creek falls has a new 900 foot plus modern steel bridge spanning the Juneau creek canyon and I heard almost 300 feet to the bottom pictured here tonight at sunset

Cutting up the earth to accommodate the new by pass highway which is a great safety improvement and environmentally destructive along a once beautiful bar and restaurant called “Our point of view”. The views were spectacular from the lodge that was destroyed by fire in the late 1970’s
