A Northern Mockingbird has been nabbing the unripe cherry tomatoes from our garden. We are happy to share the harvest, though the tomatoes are not particularly good for the birds due to their acidity. While not toxic, per se, there are better alternatives for our fine-feathered friends, such as leafy greens and cooked or dried tomatoes. We do keep several feeders stocked daily, but this particular bird chose to burgle our tomato plant. 🤷‍♀️

"On a Wing and a Prayer"

There were fewer butterflies this season than last, and this was the only monarch butterfly to grace our garden this year. After several days and nights of colder air, Autumn deceived this beauty into thinking Summer still lingered. Fighting the wind, it clung to a Mosquito plant to feed, dashing occasionally to other plants and flowers, but always returning for the nectar of this particular flower.

There is an elegance in Autumn that the summer months simply do not possess. How could they? While some may long for the warmer days of summer, the transformation that Autumn brings is often vivid and breathtaking, to say the least, inviting us to pause and appreciate the profound uniqueness and beauty of the world around us.
