TWIG EATER 🌟
How can the largest and heaviest species of deer live on leaves, twigs and aquatic plant life? The short answer is, Moose EAT ALOT!
Moose are herbivores, meaning that they only eat plants. The name "moose" is derived from the Algonquin word "moosu" meaning "bark stripper".
Moose eat up to 70 pounds of complex carbohydrates a day which means that they are constantly browsing for plant materials. Even though the protein content of plants is low, Moose get plenty of protein in their diet by eating so much and so often. Moose use the nitrogen in plants to derive the proteins they need to grow such big bodies and, for the males, huge antlers. Big bull Moose can weigh up to a ton!
