A frequently asked question for San Francisco City Hall civil ceremonies: Can I have more than 6 guests?

The answer will always be it depends. It depends solely on the commissioner marrying you that day. If you’re willing to try out your luck then go for it but I will keep that count less than 15 if you can.

250 couples. One day. San Francisco City Hall on Pride Day. 🌈💍

To say it was busy would be an understatement.

There were couples, families, photographers, and celebrations happening everywhere—but looking at these photos, you’d never know it.

And that’s where experience matters.

Photographing at San Francisco City Hall every week has taught me so much more than just the prettiest places to take photos. I’ve learned how the building flows, which locations get crowded and when, where to go when our usual spots are taken, and how to work around the chaos without making my couples feel rushed or overwhelmed.

On a day when 250 couples were getting married, my goal was still the same: make my couples feel like this moment—and City Hall—was completely theirs.

You can’t always control how busy your wedding day will be. But you can choose a photographer who knows how to navigate it. 🤍

One of the most frequently asked questions from potential clients: “We’re awkward in front of the camera… will you tell us what to do?”

Always. 😂 But probably not in the way you’re expecting.

I’m not going to spend your entire session putting you into stiff poses and telling you to hold them while I take 47 versions of the same photo.

I prefer to direct rather than pose.

I’ll tell you where to stand, what to do with your hands, where to look, and make all those tiny adjustments that make a photograph feel polished—but then I’ll give you prompts that get you moving, laughing, flirting, and actually interacting with each other.

Sometimes I’ll even give you something completely ridiculous to do just to get you out of your head. 😂

Because the second you stop thinking, “What am I supposed to do with my hands?” and start paying attention to the person you love… that’s when the magic happens.

You get the elevated, editorial images you wanted without your session feeling like one long photoshoot.

It should feel like an experience you actually get to enjoy together.
