To all the dads who show up. 🤍

The dads who carry the diaper bag, chase the toddlers, crack the jokes, wipe the tears, and somehow always end up with a kid on their shoulders.

The dads who may not have been the ones to book the session.. but show up anyway, ready to love on their family and make memories.

This one is for you.

As a family photographer, I get a front-row seat to the way dads love their kids. And while the photos are beautiful, it's your presence that matters most.

So, with Father's Day coming up, I want to shout out all the incredible dads, grandpas, stepdads, father figures, and men who show up day after day for the people they love. Your family notices. Your kids notice. And one day, they'll be so thankful you were in the photos, too.

Tag or share this with a dad whose presence means everything to his family. 🤍

Planning family photos this summer but already stressing about what everyone is going to wear? 😅

Trust me—you are not alone. One of the most common questions I get from families before their session is: "What should we wear?"

The good news? It doesn't have to be complicated.

I put together some of my favorite outfit styling tips and recommendations [link in comments], and I'm highlighting one family session that absolutely nailed it. From choosing colors that complement the season and location to mixing textures and coordinating without looking overly "matchy," this family is a perfect example of how thoughtful styling can elevate an entire gallery.

If you've got a family session on the calendar (or are thinking about booking one), this post is for you. 🤍

Save it for later, send it to your spouse, and let me know in the comments: What's the hardest part about choosing outfits for family photos?

School is officially out, and summer is here.

Bring on the family trips up north, the sandy toes and sun-warmed skin, the days that blur together at the beach. The ice cream runs that turn into sticky hands and laughter in the car. Fireflies at dusk. Backyard sprinklers. Late nights that stretch just a little too long, and slow mornings that don’t ask for anything at all.

The kind of days you don’t realize you’ll miss until they’ve already become memories.

A note to all my fellow photographers - don’t forget to turn the camera around this summer too. Capture your own people. The moments that make up their childhood right now. Your memories matter just as much as everyone else’s 🫶

A lot of people think supporting a photographer only means booking a session or purchasing images.

And while that kind of support is always deeply appreciated, some of the most meaningful support actually comes from the small things.

A comment.
A share.
A recommendation to a friend.
Telling them their images made you feel something.

So much of what shows up in your feed is shaped by algorithms behind the scenes. When you like, comment on, or share a post, you’re telling the platform that the content is valuable and worth engaging with, which helps push it out to more people, including those who may never have otherwise come across it.

It seems like engagement has become so passive because we’re all used to swiping through reels at lightning speed, so we often just scroll on by without leaving any interaction. But it truly only takes a couple of seconds to support someone, and it doesn’t cost a thing.

Those quiet, simple interactions genuinely help small businesses grow more than most people realize. 🤍

The people who consistently show up, engage, encourage, and support creatives in these little ways make a bigger impact than they know.

Somehow, we're already in June, which means I'm fully in my favorite season of the year for photography.

And yes, I'm going to say it... I love summer sessions even more than fall sessions. Gasp. 😱

Give me the warm evenings, wildflowers, golden sunsets, lush greenery, barefoot kiddos, and those long summer nights any day.

If you're on the fence about a summer session, I just posted a blog from a session last summer that shows exactly why I'm such a huge fan of photographing this time of year [LINK IN COMMENTS]. The light, the greenery, the warm evenings... it's hard to beat ☀️✨

As I mentioned last week, my summer calendar is intentionally limited this year. And no, that's not a marketing tactic. I'm making a conscious effort to take on a lighter workload so I can be more present with my own kids while they're home for summer break. These years are flying by, and I don't want to miss them.

That means I have fewer session dates available than usual, and once they're gone, they're gone.

I saw a picture of my oldest from five years ago the other day and my heart ached to hold that sweet little boy again 🥹

A little life & business update from me 🤍

I’m doing things a bit differently this summer and intentionally taking on a very limited number of sessions throughout June & July.

With everything going on surrounding my sister’s diagnosis last fall, my perspective on time has shifted a lot lately. More than ever, I’m realizing just how important and irreplaceable time with the people we love truly is.

So, this summer, I’m choosing to slow down a little. Less overbooking. Less rushing from session to session. Less summer camps for the kids, more slow mornings at home with my people. More play, more presence, more time with my three little ones while they’re still little. ☀️

Come September, I’ll be heading into my busiest season of the year and will likely be shooting almost daily through fall. But before that season arrives, I want to soak up this summer with my family as much as I can.

Because of that, my availability for summer sessions is much more limited than in past years. If you’ve been thinking about booking a summer session, I’d recommend reaching out sooner rather than later before the remaining dates are gone 🤍
