Very well said.
Trust me ✨
I have been many versions of a photographer the last 16 years. At times I never felt good enough and at other times I felt unstoppable. You are going to go through a lot of seasons in this profession. And I am here to tell you, don’t give up.
If your heart is in this for the right reasons, you will succeed. We do what we do because we love it. We do not do it for fame or money, or social status. Because we all know how rare any of those are in this industry.
We document people’s lives and stories. We photograph some of the last photos people have of their family members. We photograph families growing and families saying goodbye to their pets. We photograph children as they crawl and as they run off to college. We photograph hurt and pain to give hope and freedom to women and men that are survivors of DV, SA, War, Grief, and Loss. We photograph the happy and the sad and we stay with our clients right through it.
I have been a witness to so many incredible moments and so many unfair ones as well. While a whole room of people cried, I photographed it with tears in my own eyes.
Don’t ever take for granted the love and art you give to others through what you do. It matters and it will matter for a lifetime to come. Your work matters, no matter how new or experienced you are. We all see the world through our own eyes and experiences. And that is our gift.
