Hello. My name is Cherie and I am a single mother to a 14 yr old awesome human being. I've battled with health issues since I had my son, but lately, I've been in a literal fight for my life. A few months ago, I was hospitalized for internal bleeding, and I have been hospitalized 3x since. The last year was incredibly difficult for me and my son and I almost lost our home last year, due to health issues, a loss of income, and an inability to find a job I could physically maintain while being able to get to and from without a vehicle to drive. To say I've been through the ringer largely due to my physical and mental health is an understatement, but I kept fighting. Thanks to last-minute public assistance, I was narrowly able to avoid losing our home last year, and I got my old job back at Katzingers in the knick of time.
Unfortunately, just prior to getting that job back, my chronic health issues started rearing their ugly heads which postponed my ability to get back to working. One of my chronic health issues is chronic pancreatitis, which hospitalizes most people evert time. I've battled it enough that I can USUALLY ride it out at home, BUT it leaves me bed-bound and unable to work. That said, over the last year, I found myself battling it more and more frequently, and wound up repeatedly hospitalized while fighting it. Katzingers, however, was amazing and let me start working back there again as soon as I was done battling it. This was back in August.
From there, however, things have continued to decline. I wound up hospitalized for a week in November, just after Thanksgiving due to internal bleeding and extreme pain. I was released for a few days and then when I went to my doctor for a follow-up to my hospital stay, my health rapidly declined even more and he sent me back to the hospital to be admitted, as it was clear I was still internally bleeding, but more severely. Since then, I've basically lived at the hospital. I have come home super briefly between visits, buy this is my 3rd or 4th visit since Thanksgiving.
I managed to stay out of the hospital through Christmas and New Year, but BARELY and in the process, I almost died. I was brought back to OSU Main hospital on January 3rd (2 days ago) and had I not come in sooner, I likely would have died in my couch. When I got to the hospital, I was almost immediately rushed into life-saving emergency surgery and an emergency blood transfusion where I received over 6 units of blood and over 6 units of plasma due to an aneurysm of my splenic artery. They had to go in via a small incision in the right side of my pelvis and access my splenic artery. I woke up yesterday morning to discover I was intubated and life-saving measures were taken. I'm still currently in the ICU and according to paperwork, will likely be in the hospital until at least the 11th.mt job has been amazing throughout this process but I cannot survive on no income.
Because of the influx in health issues, I'll be working on filing disability again but in the mean time, I need all of the financial assistance I can get, between rent, utilities, basic household items, etc. if you can help support myself and my son in any capacity, it would mean the world to me. Trying to fight for my life while fighting not to lose everything financially is breaking me and I desperately need all the support I can muster. Thank you and have a blessed day!
