There’s something so sweet about meeting two little boys who have a whole lifetime of adventures ahead of them. They may not know it yet, but they’re going to grow up with a built-in best friend, and I love getting to capture the very beginning of that bond. 🤍

There are some wedding days that remind me exactly why I fell in love with photography in the first place. Amanda and Grant’s Revery wedding in Columbus Ohio was one of those days. After 14 years of photographing weddings together, Cody and I have experienced so many beautiful celebrations. Still, I can confidently say that this one will go down as one of our absolute favorites.

The gorgeous fall weather, incredible florals, and beautiful reception certainly didn’t hurt. But what made this day so unforgettable was something much simpler: the kindness and pure joy of Amanda and Grant.

When you imagine the perfect fall wedding day in Ohio, I think this is exactly what comes to mind. The sun was shining, a slight breeze filled the air, and everything felt warm and inviting. It was the kind of October weather that makes you wish you could bottle it up for every wedding.

As beautiful as the weather was, Amanda and Grant were truly what made this day so special. I'll never forget the way Grant smiled throughout the day. Every time he caught one of us pointing a camera in his direction, he broke into the biggest, most genuine smile. There was something so endearing about watching him take it all in. He seemed almost amazed that the day they had been waiting for was finally happening. Here he was, marrying Amanda, surrounded by all the people they love.

As photographers, we get to witness so many incredible moments. But there’s something particularly special about photographing people who are so openly happy to be exactly where they are. Amanda and Grant had that kind of joy, and it was contagious.

One of the things I love most about weddings is how joy and tenderness can exist right alongside each other. Amanda and Grant’s celebration was full of laughter and happiness. There were also deeply emotional moments woven throughout the day.

Remembering and honoring Grant’s father brought a tenderness to the celebration that made everything feel even more meaningful. Weddings have such a beautiful way of bringing together the people we love. They also make space for those whose absence is deeply felt. Those quieter moments were an important part of their story, and I’m grateful we were there to document them.
Then, in the very next moments, there was laughter, excitement, and happiness filling every corner of the room.

I have to talk about the design of this wedding because it was absolutely everything I love about fall weddings, with an unexpected twist. Sarah with Aisle & Co. completely transformed Revery’s glass rooftop space into something extraordinary. Beautiful natural light poured through the windows, making the entire space feel bright, romantic, and warm.

Instead of traditional deep burgundies and darker autumn colors, Amanda and Grant chose the most beautiful palette of warm pinks and oranges. The colors felt fresh, romantic, and perfectly suited to a sunny fall wedding day.

And the flowers. Oh, the flowers.

Flocal Co. Floral Company will forever be one of my favorites when it comes to floral design. Their ability to bring together color, texture, and movement is incredible, and these arrangements were no exception. The warm pinks and oranges were such a beautiful interpretation of fall. I especially loved how they complemented the light-filled rooftop at Revery.

Getting to photograph such thoughtful design alongside some of my favorite wedding vendors is always a treat. It’s even better when the entire celebration feels so true to the couple.

One of my favorite things about Amanda and Grant’s Revery wedding in Columbus Ohio was how much personality they brought into their reception. Every detail made the celebration feel uniquely theirs.If the earlier part of the wedding was filled with heartfelt moments, the reception was all about celebrating. And I mean really celebrating.

There was a fresh cannoli station, which might just be one of my favorite wedding dessert ideas ever. Dueling pianos brought so much energy and entertainment to the evening. Another favorite detail was seeing guests wearing facial sparkles throughout the reception.

I love when couples incorporate unexpected elements that make their wedding feel like their own. These weren’t just beautiful details for the sake of having beautiful details. They helped create an atmosphere where everyone could relax, have fun, and enjoy being together.

The entire evening felt playful, joyful, and completely unforgettable.
After photographing weddings for 14 years, I’ve learned that the days that stay with me aren’t necessarily the most elaborate. They’re the days where the people make you feel lucky to be part of their story.

Amanda and Grant’s wedding had all the beautiful details you could ever hope for. But what I’ll remember most is their kindness and how genuinely excited they were to be married. The joy they brought to everyone around them was something special.

I’lI know I’ll remember all those beautiful details. More than anything, though, I’ll remember how it felt to be surrounded by so much genuine happiness. Mostly, I’ll remember how happy I felt getting to photograph it all.

Amanda and Grant, thank you for letting Cody and me be part of such an incredible day. You reminded us why we love doing this, even after all these years. What an absolute privilege it was to tell your story.

Amanda and Grant had the kind of fall wedding day I think everyone pictures when they dream about getting married in October. Golden sunshine, gorgeous fall color, and that perfect crisp warmth in the air.

Aisle & Co. completely transformed Revery, and I cannot get enough of the fall pinks and warm tones they brought into the space. This entire day just makes me happy. 🍂

There are some love stories where you really can’t tell the story without including the dogs.

Helena and Tom first noticed each other at the dog park. They kept seeing each other there, their dogs giving them a reason to cross paths again and again, until eventually coffee was offered and something much bigger began. So when their wedding day arrived at Retreat 21, it only felt right that all three pups were there for it.

From the beginning of the day, there were little pieces of Helena and Tom’s life woven into everything. Helena had put so much thought into the details she chose, from her painted mirror to her Taylor Swift ring box and the embroidered dog shoes she would later wear for dancing. There were sentimental pieces honoring her dad that made his presence feel woven throughout the entire day.

Even the smallest details felt personal rather than simply decorative. They told you something about the people Helena and Tom love, the things that make them laugh, and the life they have built together.

Alexis of Dressed and Detailed, who had helped Helena choose her gown in Florida, even traveled all the way to Ohio to be there on the wedding day, helping with her dress and making sure every detail was taken care of.

And, of course, the dogs got their own moments in front of the camera too — including portraits with Helena’s veil and bouquet that felt especially fitting considering how this entire story started.

While Helena and Tom exchanged their vows, Caleb, their live wedding painter, was nearby beginning to paint the moment of their first kiss. I love when couples include a live painter because it becomes so much more than something beautiful to take home at the end of the night. Guests get to stop by throughout the reception and watch the painting slowly come to life, seeing more and more of a moment they had just witnessed appear on the canvas.

But one of the sweetest surprises of the ceremony came from their officiant.

Without Helena and Tom knowing, their officiant had collected video messages from friends and family across the country who weren’t able to be there in person. Watching Helena and Tom realize what was happening was one of my favorite moments of the entire day. There are certain reactions you simply cannot recreate later — the complete surprise on their faces, followed by so much joy as they watched messages from people they love.

Those are the moments I’m always looking for.

After the ceremony and portraits, Helena and Tom had a chance to see their reception space completely finished before everyone else was invited inside. And while the room was still empty, they practiced their first dance together.

I LOVE when we can build a little moment like this into a wedding day. Before the introductions, before everyone is watching, and before the reception really gets going, they had the entire room to themselves to practice their dance and just be together.

There’s something so sweet about photographing those few minutes. There’s no audience and no pressure to perform. It’s just the two of them laughing, figuring out their steps, and taking in this space that is about to be filled with all of their favorite people.

Then, not long afterward, the doors opened, their guests came in, and Helena and Tom got to do it all over again for real.
From there, the evening shifted fully into celebration.

Guests could check in on Caleb as their first-kiss painting continued to take shape throughout the night. There were heartfelt moments with family, plenty of laughter, and eventually a full dance floor — with Helena changing into her embroidered dog shoes for dancing.

But through all of the beautiful details and planning, my favorite thing about this wedding was how distinctly Helena and Tom it felt.

Their relationship began with repeated glances at a dog park and eventually a cup of coffee. Years later, they stood at Retreat 21 surrounded by the people — and pups — they love most and promised the rest of their lives to each other.

And for the people they loved who couldn’t physically be in that room with them, there was still a way for them to be part of the day. It turns out the dog park was a pretty good place to meet your husband.
