Elopements are an extra special sort of experience. The kind that grants all the loosey goosiness and an ability to experience it however the heckity you want.

Galavant through the forest in the foothills of mount baker? Sure. Lay on moss covered logs and feel the buzz of the earth? Mmhmmm. Eat cake because even though it may be traditional, cake is delicious? Sign me up.

The point is, we’d love to be your thought partners as you develop your perfect date (which we’d have to say is probably “April 25th. Because it’s not too hot, not too cold. All you need is a light jacket.” - name that movie). And we’d even moreso love to exist in it with you and document it through our sweet lenses of love.

If you happen to be planning your elopement, we’d love to chat. Our contact is linked in the bio or slide into our DM’s and we’d happy to be your personal es**rt through the process.

Ok love you bye.

As wedding photographers in the biz for 13 years and counting (eeeshk!), the best piece of advice we could give is to show up and live.

It may seem obvious. Living your wedding day. Like, you’re physically there, so that counts… right?

I mean.. yeah, it does, AND to live it fully present, open to all the possibilities, is a whole other shoe. And we want the glass slipper to fit. Ya know?

When you’re able to fall in. Like, REALLY fall in, there’s a shift. An alteration to the little bleeps and bloops (that’s sophisticated speak for neural pathways) in your brain that goes on to create memory markers stored as “significant.” That will then show up in your gallery (and honestly, your every day) and how you receive it. It’s very Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

Having vendors who are with you through all the happenings (ahem, that’d be us… ahem ahem), that can hold that space for you to exist and remind you to check in to self changes the entire frame (photographer pun). We’ve watched hundreds of wedding days unfold, and know well how much this kind of reverence to your experience matters.

If this sounds like something you want, you know where to find us. And if you don’t… there’s a link to contact in our bio or you can tap into our DM’s.

Yes, we photograph weddings - have been for many many years. And in doing that, we have found so many of our people. And the things that really gets me in the heart box location is that our people have found us over and over again. How lucky can a couple of artists get?

It’s fricken magic to get to create all day with other humans you jive with, who trust, who can be free in the experience of it all because ain’t no thangs (like an awkward turtle breathing heavy over your shoulder) bringing the bar down.

We had a groom recently tell us that he sees us in his minds eye along some of the key memories of the day. That yes, the focus is the memory itself, AND, our presence is still palpable (in a good way… thank gawd) within that. On the sidelines. Silently cheering you on and expelling the good energy like a care bear shooting their rainbow out their cute little chests, 90’s style.

What. An. Honor.

AND what a reminder for how important it is to feel comfy cozy with your wedding photographer. Style, check. Art, check. Vibes, check check check check.

If you’re the same kind of human that sees the value in the photographer puzzle piece as being someone who can hold the space for you to exist (and exist with you in it when invited), we’d love to chat. Link in profile, or pop into those DM’s.

Travel elopement photographers, but make it documentary. Mt Rainier edition.

They said - let’s do this our way. We said f*ck yes. Let’s.

Listen. “Our way” can mean a myriad of things. It could mean throwing timelines to the wind, wearing a confetti colored mini dress with a bubblegum pink veil and literally tossing every rule in the book out the car window on your very own adventure (actually don’t do that… that’s littering), OR it could mean, incorporating some meaningful traditions, having a general plan, but also living to experience - with some personal touches (like mom’s homemade, cooked for 3 days, pozole … holy cow. More of mom’s inherited recipes for dinner, please.

I say this only because sometimes we hear chitter chatter surrounding doing it different, and think that means re-imagining every detail. But really, we are free to take what means something, add what enhances it, and just be done with whatever doesn’t serve the story.

More of that (and pozole.. don’t forget the pozole).

If you’re planning something that tosses out the “supposed to’s,” you know where to find us. Starting with the link in our bio and a lil contact form so the conversation can begin.

We’re looking forward to it.

2016.

Jumping on the bandwagon of trending posts is new for me because I usually just treat this space like a lil virtual portfolio, but this trend struck a chord.

2016 feels like a different lifetime, and, given it was both of our Saturn returns, it was a pivotal turning point in our lives.

It’s the year we went all in on our business.
The year we traveled the U.S. by car with 2 of our best buddies and saw some incredible places.
The year we renewed our vows in Olympic National Park.
The year we got pregnant.
The year we won 30 Rising Stars and saw our little pipe dream of a business take off.
The year we really started traveling with our business to photograph couples and live our dream.
The year we brought our first born earth side. (!!!)

This year literally changed everything.

We may be wedding photographers, but our souls purpose is to create space so you can live the moment, relish in it, and have something to come back to together, later.

The images will stay the same. Sure. That’s the concept of a photograph, right? But its evolution as time rolls on, is everything. So we’re just over here making sure the raw material is worth the aging process.

Ready to build your time capsule? We are, too.
The link is in the bio.

This was a wedding that came with rules. Well, one rule. One rule that was actually creatively open ended and awesome: no portraits, no posing, no guiding. Just documentary.

It was exhilarating.

We’ve been doing this for over a decade (feel free to do age math if you must, we call it wisdom), and this is the first time someone asked us to go fully hands-off. We’ve always had a penchant for the real and photographed with a documentary approach combined with whimsically cinematic flair, but to go all in, to take away the safety net of the ordinary, pushed us to see in a whole new light (tee hee, photographer pun).

We took more photos than we’ve ever taken at a wedding. We watched harder. Moved differently. Fully immersed ourselves in the freedom to notice.

Big picture, small picture, get the picture? (Had to)

The results are raw. Honest. Like a memory written in light and movement - a little out of control in the best way.

Listen. We still love our time alone with couples when the story requires it. The slow jam interlude is definitely a component of our bagel slathered in jam. That’s not going anywhere.

But we also loved the surrender of control. Pure witnessing of an unfolding.

There’s SO much more from this one. The surface hasn’t even been skimmed. And we can’t wait to share.

Whether you want fully documentary, or our usual blend of cinematic guidance to notice + documentary observation, our inbox is waiting. Click the link in profile to inquire (or make your way directly to our DM’s and we’ll connect the dots for ya).

We are documentary wedding photographers that obsess over one very specific thing - people being people. Letting go of the “doing it right” vibes, and allowing “that can’t-eat, can’t-sleep, reach-for-the-stars, over-the-fence, World Series kind of love” play out. (Any MK+A fans from the 90’s around these parts?)

We’ve learned (and keep learning, and will probably never stop learning) that joy does not live in perfection. It’s where we show up. With our people, to the day, in the actual moment.

The way we see it, our job is to create space for that to happen. Sans performance.

To go a little woo (and because I’m deep in the throes of learning astrology and human design in order to lean deeper into myself), I have libra energy in my 4th (emotional foundation) and 5th houses (creative joy and purpose), which means I literally cannot do this work without creating harmony first. Not surface level “how’s the weather,” harmony. The real “everyone is safe” kind of harmony.

Safe enough to be seen.
Safe enough to exist.

I’ve released (am releasing, will keep releasing) the need to people please my way through life and through my work. Sometimes (a lot of times), discomfort is the doorway to the real stuff, so our method is to show up grounded, create the container and collaborate with what is real.

The end result is, yes, some kick butt images to commemorate the ordeal, but really, it’s the practice of building something real together. Not being perfect in it. Existing in it.

It really is that simple.
