With each session, my number one goal is to create a personalized, professional experience for your family that artfully celebrates your life and loved ones just as they are, right now. You want to carve out time to have a meaningful experience together. You want images of your family captured in an artful and authentic way. You are sentimental and know that images influence your memories: how you remember and what you remember. You want to create and pass on family heirlooms for generations to come.

I had a client tell me recently that she hired me because I promote myself as a “relaxed” family photographer, which I love and it’s true. It doesn’t mean your session will feel relaxing - that totally depends on the dynamics of your family.

It means that I stay relaxed no matter what you bring. Toddler melt downs. Kids saying no. Diaper explosions. Shyness. Silliness. It doesn’t really matter to me what exactly happens during your session. I don’t have an agenda other than to show up RELAXED and ready to witness you and your family spending time together.

If I suggest something to your kiddo and they say no, I move on. And because I listen to them they trust me more and more as our session goes on, which means I get to see and capture their unique spirit. And isn’t that the point?

Sneak peek from the weekend’s session. This family wanted me to document their last months in the home where they’ve been raising their family, which meant lots of playing outside and in, including their kids’ rooms. What a gift for their kids to be able to look back on one day!

I love that this family wanted a walk around downtown Worthington for their maternity session. There’s so much beautiful light and color in urban settings - they’re quickly becoming a favorite go-to for out of the house sessions. These were taken on digital and medium format film (the light in those last two slides: made for film!).

This is my favorite type of photo (today. It’ll be different tomorrow). Dreamy light, soft focus, connection, black and white. Moms with their first born. Nostalgic, fuzzy like memories. Looking forward to a fall season of making lots more of these!
