Mid-morning light looking be-autiful here!

I love making pictures during golden hour as much as any photographer but it’s often not ideal for families. We’re talking about starting at 6am or 8pm during summer = no bueno.

One of the reasons I appreciate film so much is because it handles light so beautifully. It’s given me the confidence to make portraits at any time - namely when it’s best for you and your kiddos.

Summer as a kid and summer as a parent just aren’t the same season.

The best kid summers are wild, feral, and full of freedom to explore. I’m doing my best to protect that for them while also working, feeding everyone and keeping the house from falling apart.

I love summer, but it’s also exhausting. But watching my kids revel in it, loud and feral and unworried, allows me to relive the summers of my childhood just the tiniest bit, and for that I am so grateful.

My Snapshot Sessions were created because full sessions aren’t always what a family needs. Sometimes you just want a snapshot of a specific summer or moment in time. Short, playful, relaxed with no pressure to perform.

Me, trying to slow down and embrace each day as I shepard my four kids through the end of the school year and all of their activities.

I planned a staycation for myself for the next four days and I couldn’t be more grateful to past Sarah for looking out for future Sarah. Actually the thanks should go to my wife who is wise about making time for rest. I’m excited to see what fresh ideas and whimsies will arrive as I slow down.

I’m not posting nearly enough during my favorite photo season: summer!

Yes the colors of fall are pretty, but summer holds the magic and best memories of childhood. I’d love to bottle up all the pools, popsicles and picnics for you!

Spring with Big Kids. The time when my babies were little definitely went too fast but I’m loving the big kid years when they’re really engaged in activities, funny, and still want to hang out with us. Trying to soak it all in and make as many summery core memories together as possible.

I love when moms opt to do a solo maternity session. (Okay I love a family maternity session just as much but when you’re working with just one person there’s so much freedom to experiment and be creative and go at your own pace).

These are from a “Snapshot” session, which are shortened sessions that include two rolls of film and will be offered Fridays throughout summer. Choose from a few of my favorite locations. Perfect for maternity/body sessions/a quick update on family photos that are still playful and relaxed. Can’t wait to get the film back from this one!!!

Very thankful to , for getting me out of the house to go make photos just for fun this spring.

I LOVE how colorful these turned out! I got the colors by photographing a roll of flowers on and then shooting portraits over it.

I include two rolls of film in all of my family packages - if you’re digging these vibes let me know and we’ll use a roll during your session!
