Hey Everyone, MAJOR announcement… I made a book!

Growing up in a small town, I experienced my summers surrounded by trees to climb, bikes to ride, and plenty of mischief to get into. I often look back on those days with a feeling of longing. How quickly those summers seemed to slide on by. There was so much to do and never enough sunlight to do it all. I think that’s what made those days so magical. Coming to camp reawakened these memories and inspired me to capture a little of what I remember and live those days for a while longer.

The work chronicles three summers worth of witnessing and adventuring through the tears, the smiles, and the laughter at a summer camp.

I can’t thank YMCA Camp Carson enough for helping me experience the camp magic that inspired this book. I’ve met so many amazing people who contributed to the project through their love, support, and friendships. Staff, both past and present, have created such a wonderful environment for kids to have the perfect summer. So much happens behind the scenes that can only be described by one word: Passion.

Just before the holiday, I walked along one of the covid wards at Sparrow Hospital with my camera. My coworker and I witnessed the frustration health care workers were feeling as floors filled to capacity. They spoke of the fear and anxiety they carried home to their families after each shift.

We were able to interview a patient who had just been through hell. He felt lucky to be alive. Before we left, he shared that he just wanted to see his grandkids again.

My heart goes out to all of the families affected. My respect for those medical workers who face this every day.

Hundreds of people drive through Sparrow Hospital’s Covid vaccination clinic each week. One person they might meet is 81-year-old volunteer, Pat Munshaw.

Rivalry Week is officially here. The undefeated MSU football team will take on the undefeated Wolverines Saturday at Spartan Stadium, and MSU Head Football Coach Mel Tucker said Monday that he and his team are ready.
