Self Portrait - June 2026.

Just a few decades ago, LGBTQ+ people faced laws and policies that denied them basic rights and dignity, criminalized same-sex relationships, and targeted their communities and gathering spaces. Many were arrested during police raids on bars and gathering places, denied jobs and housing, barred from military service, and prevented from marrying the people they loved. Yet in the face of fear and discrimination, brave people stood up, spoke out, and refused to be invisible.

We owe so much to those who marched, organized, cared for one another during times of crisis, and fought for equality… not only for themselves, but for generations they would never meet.

Their work, however, is not finished. LGBTQ+ people still face discrimination, violence, and laws that can limit rights and opportunities, particularly for transgender people. Progress is real, but it has never been guaranteed.

Today, I honor those who came before us with gratitude. May we carry their work forward and leave an even kinder, more inclusive world for the next generation. 🌈✌️🌎✌️🌈

Pride endures because of those who refused to hide. Because of those who marched when it was dangerous, spoke when it was unpopular, and stood up when it would have been easier to stay silent. Their courage changed laws, changed minds, and changed lives.

Pride is not just about the LGBTQ+ community. It is about humanity. It is about recognizing that the most powerful force in the universe is love, which connects us, strengthens us, and reminds us that our shared humanity is greater than our differences.

Love is not a weakness. Diversity is not a threat. Equality is not negotiable.

Tonight’s full moon is a rare Blue Moon, the second full moon in a single month, and it’s also a micromoon, which means it’s hanging out near its farthest point from Earth. So technically it looks a little smaller, but it’s still pretty awesome. Definitely worth looking up tonight while the skies are clear! 🛸👽🌕👽🛸
