While each wedding is special, this weekend I had the distinct privilege of photographing Emily & Sam’s wedding at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish - my family’s home church. The setting alone would have made the day special for Caro and I - knowing the space, knowing the priest, knowing the musicians, etc. But what made it a truly wonderful day was the way in which Emily and Sam, along with their families, made us feel welcomed. They are kind-hearted, humble, down to earth people - exactly the kind of people we try to surround ourselves with.

Emily and Sam, thank you for trusting us to play a part in your wedding day! We’re incredibly excited for the two of you and can’t wait to catch up the next time you’re back in Pickerington ☺️

Erin & Cody’s portrait session is the perfect example of why I love engagement photos!

While most engagement sessions are scheduled around 6 months out from the wedding day, for Erin & Cody that wasn’t a possibility. Coming from Florida, they had limited opportunities to make it up to Ohio. Rather than just scrapping their session altogether, we decided to capture their portraits the week of their wedding. Why, you might ask?

Engagement sessions are about more than capturing beautiful portraits of the two of you (though that’s certainly a nice perk ☺️). They give couples a chance to get comfortable in front of the camera and to practice posing techniques we’ll use on the wedding day. They give me a chance to learn mannerisms and the way you interact with one another in person. And they give us a chance to build rapport before the wedding day itself.

For Erin and Cody, much of this came naturally. They’re charming and play off of each other really well. But even then, it was so obvious a few days later when their wedding rolled around that they had been practicing many of the techniques we worked on during their engagement session. This made it easier for us to be more efficient with our time on the wedding day, fretting more space for the things that really matter - time with the people you love and building memories that will last forever!

The pure, effervescent, undeniable joy these two demonstrated throughout their day was inspiring and infectious. Fair warning: if you’re pumped to get married; you let your authentic self shine; and you’re down for a good time chances are I’m going to want to take lots of photos 🤣

Sami and Berto’s wedding was a day filled with love & laughter, family & friends! The rain that fell earlier in the afternoon only made the later sunshine that much more glorious, only amplifying the glow coming from these two. Congratulations sami and Berto Carselle!

Stephanie & Chris’ wedding was an incredible way to kick off peak wedding season! I’m not exaggerating when I say this wedding felt like something bigger than just one day. At a time when leaders often use differences to divide, Stephanie and Chris created a space that did the opposite. Their multicultural wedding celebration brought people together in a way that encouraged guests to find beauty in their common humanity and joy in the unique traditions they bring with them.
