maria said for her wedding she wants to feel like a royal (AS SHE SHOULD!!!) so for her engagement session we decided to put on the glass slippers and get into that ✨queen energy ✨at the ohio statehouse!!

juan + maria were both so willing to let me try new things and let the inspiration flow!! I LOVEEEE some of the unique perspectives I got / how I got to play with lighting / her outfits + accessories (how gorgeous?!) which really informed some of what I wanted to try!!

she was so elegant and easy to photograph because somehow she knew exactly how to achieve the vision she was hoping for in her mind’s eye 🕊️ she brought it to life in real time, plus a healthy mix of giggles from the lovebirds hehe

I am so excited for september and to stand by these two as they say “i do” before the Lord and all of their favorite humans!!! it’s going to be the royal wedding of 2026 for sureeeee!!

I have rarely gotten to shoot at the statehouse while there’s good natural light outdoors, filtering in— and so it was so astonishing to me to see how the light came through in certain spaces and then conversely how my flash helped illuminate the rest!! it’s so fun as a creative, actually getting to dig and play and construct in a proverbial sandbox; to build and mold and have fun, and let the session morph into what the figurative sand and waves want it to become 🤍

my first wedding from last year, with s + n still feels like one of my most creative. and there’s a couple of reasons why 🤍

first off, the bride and groom were unapologetically themselves. their silliness, their fidelity, their promises, their years of knownness, their indubitable joy, their commitment, their genuineness all shone through brilliantly in what I got to create and capture on my lens. they SHOWED UP and their photos showed outtttt!!

next, the newlyweds were surrounded by friends and family that matched their presence. the guests and family members were just as emotive and intentional and filled with life as the couple. and when you get to be a fly on the wall, and just shoot what happens and it turns out that is just real life, you get photos that tell a story, starting with people. starting with joy and dignity. starting with a platform and a purpose of “the best day ever,” and less concern for “the perfect shot.”

when you let your day unfold and focus on each other, the creativity spills out. it can’t be contained!! tear stricken cheeks, twirls in the most spin-worthy dress, florals that will fill your senses with whimsy and also cause your jaw to quite actually drop, a dance floor that is teeming with energy and radiance, a ceremony that is honoring to your covenant, your loved ones and yourself, hands nestled around an arm or embracing your brother at full force, bridal party photos that contain REAL smiles and surprise and fun and authenticity, all at a venue that creates plenty of space for real life to be lived on a wedding day and a stellar team of vendors, YOU CAN’T MISS!!!!!

sammy + nat in that first photo had just jogged up the hill and he’d spun her around ending in this sweet “right after” hug. real life at its finest. I will forever be grateful for this day 🥹

could saint mary’s be any more artistic and sacred and immaculate?! I will never get over j + n’s wedding at such a jaw-dropping space.

sometimes catholic services can feel intimidating to edit and represent the colors or the light or the tones correctly due to no flash and usually little to no natural sunlight. but in my eyes, that’s a good challenge!!!

I was literally OVERJOYED I had SO much fun editing this august day and figuring out how I wanted the colors to best represent what it felt like to be there while still keeping jen’s dress looking crispy white!!! I water there to be a vibrancy and richness to the photos while still letting them feel true to color 🎨

this ceremony was engaging, honoring, and such a beautiful portrayal of a God who loves us unconditionally. I will always loveeee this day spent with these two amazing humans and just how incredible their wedding and reception were!!!

as it started to drizzle and big floppy raindrops fell for a couple minutes, all of us were like “wait shelter her from the rain like heathcliff does to cathy in wuthering heights!!!” and sweet quinn was a tad confused but gladly obliged and addi’s bright smile that shone through was genuinely so precious and it happened so quickly as a little shiver ran down her spine from the cold — that I knew I had the shot I was envisioning in a split second.

it was a romantic but real moment where you’re like I can’t wait to get back and edit that one bc I know it’s gonna be SO GOOD!!!

this session had dirty boots messy hair vibes all over it at the superstitions and even though the day was cloudy and gloomy it proved to be just the right mood for the vintage dress dana found and for quinn and addi’s pure love to be on display, rain, cactus jumping, and flowers blooming and all 🤪 (shoutout to ashley and matea who were troopers at handling the cactus that attacked ash!)

seeing real, true, authentic love in action, on-camera is one of my favorite parts of my job. like I know it’s happening in REAL TIME right in front of me and it gives me so much joy to get to come alongside couples and freeze-frame moments of their love story.

we all marveled at the beauty that surrounded us in the rich green cacti, the red dusty pathways, and the massive rock structures and mountain moments that surrounded us. what a gift to get to behold such glory and majesty. all thanks to one freaking awesome Creator 🤍✨

looking ahead to all that this year holds— future memories dreamed up and prayed over but not yet unfolded— I just sit in healthy anticipation and expectation.

mountains to be climbed; sunsets to gaze upon; valleys to stargaze in; fellowship and friendships that will blossom; rivers and streams of rushing or babbling water to be refreshed by; hands joining together in marriage, sealed with promise and vow and a big ole kiss; the youngest adults embarking on a new chapter into the next season as they turn their tassels; “yeses,” and “I do’s” and “I love you’s,” and “congrats,” will be shared and documented and imprinted in frames or galleries forever.

in 2026, i am beyond ready for ALL THE LIGHT. all that is ahead and all that my heart and lens can hold (and then some!)

pictured: at trillium lake (mount hood, OR) on a retreat where we road tripped across the wonderful and wild pacific northwest. dabbled in some double exposure, some new prompts, some foreground/background, and blue hour flash vibes with the best models and photographers and new friends by my side!!

twenty five whole years of chuck + debi 🕊️

this honeymoon island anniversary session for my parents was literally so precious to me!!

their bond and friendship is so strong, and it’s been a staple throughout their marriage! they wanted to share communion together and bring their bible to commemorate such a special milestone (in thrifted 25th anniversary decanter + glasses, no less!!)

I felt so fortunate to be able to capture their love, an they even STILL have their old navy quarter zips they had to buy in naples on their honeymoon 25 years ago because it was cold on the beach (just like it was this evening in december!) so my mom pulled them out and they put them on for some photos at the end HOW CUTIE IS THAT?!?

i’m constantly reminded that taking photos (whether for family, friends, or soon-to-be-friends of mine!) is so much more than a paycheck or profession for me. it’s a way to tell a treasured story that will never be forgotten because it was frozen in time by my lens. and when the people and memories fade, the moments caught on camera will be truly, forever.

I know I am a mountain girly through and through but florida and south carolina both recently made me fall in love with the beach all over again?!? who even am I!!! 🐚 🌊

I also am hoping to grow my clientele in florida so I can BE at the beach more (I loveeee how my edits look on DA BEACH!) and so I can spend some time with these precious people more often!!!

oh how this day was so beautifully orchestrated by the Lord 🤍 erin + fred said “i do” on the most gorgeous october day, and joy spilled over onto every edge of the moments that made up their matrimony

the sun was bright this day, as I remember, and their ceremony would’ve been in full sun (which isn’t bad, but preferentially we all would’ve loved a spot of shade). the clouds were not exactly reliable diffusers but I asked the Lord if he could give us one just for a little bit. like while erin was walking down the aisle— and you’ll see a breathtaking cloud pictured here and it stayed the ENTIRE ceremony. literally rolled in right before the processional and dissipated after the toccos made their inaugural “mr. and mrs.” exit!!!

it’s so wondrous to me how on a wedding day the Creator loves to show up in ways big and small to remind us of His nearness, His love of marriage, His delight in His children. I do my darndest to include Jesus in the multiple steps of shooting a wedding. I love to pray for my couples, but also I love to surrender little things that I know He cares about, and entrust them to Him. especially since there can be any number of things on a wedding day that are out of my control.

that huge cloud was just the little reminder I needed that He’s the one who is in control. and erin + fred’s whole day reflected that, pointing to the beauty of the gospel, the joy of a Jesus-centered celebration, and the love that lasts through thick and thin.

enjoy pausing with me to either be introduced to or reminisce back on a sunny october day, filled with joy that spilled over ever edge of the moments that made up the toccos matrimony 🤍🌿
