There’s something about the moment right before ceremony begins that feels impossible to put words.
The anticipation. The nerves. The quiet realization that life is about to change forever.
They didn’t want to see each other before the wedding. They wanted to save that moment for the aisle. But they still wanted this.
A touch. A voice. A deep breath together before everything began.
No audience. No performance. Just two people standing on opposite sides of the doorway, holding onto one another for one small moment before becoming husband and wife.
I think sometimes these are the moments people remember most. The ones in between. The ones that aren’t planned for tradition sake, but because they feel right.
Your wedding day doesn’t have to fit perfectly into someone else’s timeline or expectations. You can honor tradition, break tradition, or create something entirely your own.
The most meaningful moments usually happen when you do what feels true to you.

Lately I have been photographing more lifestyle sessions, and I think it’s because I am craving real moments over perfectly curated ones.

Not AI generated perfection. Not overly posed moments that don’t feel like you. Connection, emotion, excitement, and all the little in-between moments that come with the season of life.

There’s something really special about photographing people waiting for their baby. The excitement, the anticipation, the quiet moments where it all starts to feel real.

That’s the kind of stuff. I never want people to forget.

I think the older I get, the more important photographs become.

Not because life has to look perfect.
But because it moves so fast.

That’s also why I love photographing people in their own environment, where things are real, comfortable, unscripted, and fully theirs.

The little moments we think we’ll always remember eventually fade into the background of busy lives, growing families, and passing time.

Photographs let us hold onto pieces of our lives that would otherwise quietly disappear.

I still love the moments that happen in between everything else.
The quick glance.
The nerves.
The tiny shift and expression nobody planned for.
And the way he’s looking at her while she listens. Completely enamored without even realizing anyone can see it.

That’s the kind of stuff that makes a photograph alive years later.

Mother’s Day hits different these days.

Being a mom was the role that shaped me. It taught me love, sacrifice, worry, pride, and how fast time really moves. But becoming a grandmother opened up a whole different kind of love that I never expected. Softer somehow. Slower. More emotional in ways I can’t even explain.

Watching this little boy grow feels like getting pieces of life back all over again. The wonder, the tiny moments, the way they look at you like you are their whole world.

And while I’m beyond grateful to be celebrated as a mom and grandmother, Mother’s Day will always carry a little ache too. Missing my own mom never really goes away. Some days it sits quietly and other days it feels loud.

So today feels like all of it wrapped together. Love. Gratitude. Memories. Missing people. Holding tighter to the ones still here.

These photos mean more to me than people probably realize.

Oh, Dukeman… where do I even begin?

I never imagined, back in the days of you and Kob playing T-ball , that I’d one day be photographing your wedding.

It was crazy that only a few years ago, you told me that even if I were retired by the time you got engaged, I had to be the one to shoot it.

Lucky for all of us, I was still available.

I wouldn’t have missed this day for the world!

So grateful you found your perfect match in Taylor. 🤍

Congratulations Dukeman and Dr. Dukeman!

I can not wait to see what God has planned for you two!

20 years in 13 frames.
I met them when it was just two of them. Nervous, in love, planning a wedding and a life they couldn’t imagine yet. Then came the first baby, the second, the third, the fourth. Loose teeth, scraped knees, taller than Mom, taller than Dad.
I’ve watched this family grow up through my lens. And somehow, I’ve grown up right beside them.
This is why I do what I do. Not for one photo, but for the stories over the years. The proof that life keeps moving, kids keep growing and love gets deeper instead of smaller.
I have a few families like this that I treasure and have trusted me with all of their special moments.

If I’ve photographed your family at any point along the way, you’re part of my story too. And I’d love to see you again!

How long has it been since you did any type of family photos?

It is HERE Ladies!! PINUPS & ICONS

This is a limited Marilyn-inspired series available through February 14.
The session includes 3+ classic Pinup sets along with a soft White Bed set inspired by the iconic Marilyn Monroe photos by Douglas Kirkland. That white bed imagery is the heart of this series and the reason behind the name Pinups & Icons.
Sessions are $699 and include professional hair and makeup, seven finished images, and our signature View-Master Peepshow keepsake.
These are being offered as Valentine’s sessions for a short time. After February 14, Pinups & Icons will be available as an add-on to a regular session or booked as a full Pinup experience.
If this one has been on your mind, this is your window to book it first. Schedule a call to talk more and get on the books!
