I was stunned to see that the flower fields are still going strong!

I’ve always been drawn to the way light changes everything it touches. Give me beautiful light, strong lines, interesting shapes, and a little balance, and my Libra heart is very happy.

I noticed this building behind the venue during the walkthrough and immediately saw the photograph in my head. I’ve been thinking about it ever since.

Then I finally got to create it.

I love this one so much.

My nephew got married Sunday, to the sweetest, most perfect girl. It was such an incredible day!

Every time you walked up and down the steps of the venue, you could see the love stories of those whose love came before them.
I kept walking by and shooting photos of the frames throughout the night. Different angles, single, groups. Details are sometimes what we fill our down time with, or when nothing is happening, really.
I saw an angle I never got, near the end of the night. The light was perfect. As I was grabbing the last shot of these, I didn’t realize my sister in law was taking them down. That was it. One shot. It was better than perfect.

The zipper broke.

It could have been devastating, and Alyssa could have easily been a mess. But I have never seen such a chill bride during something that would have sent most brides spiraling.

While we waited for the cavalry to arrive and help, Alyssa was walking around holding her dress together, and all I could think was that she looked like she belonged in a Renaissance painting.

I was trying to explain to her what I was seeing in my head and told her to go stand by the mirror. When I looked up, I realized there were two paintings hanging there that looked almost exactly like what I had been picturing.

Maybe my subconscious caught a glimpse of them when I first walked into the room. I don’t know.

But in my eyes, in the middle of all that wedding-day craziness, it was a perfect moment.

A huge shout out to Connie from Battlefield Bed and Breakfast in Gettysburg, PA for coming to the save the day. You didn’t hesitate when called and were amazing all day! 🙌🏻

So… funny story.

A small tornado hit my studio building, in Columbia

The building is still standing, but part of the roof decided it no longer wanted to participate, which meant a LOT of water found its way inside.

And because apparently a tornado wasn’t enough fun, insurance has entered the chat. 🙃

So while the studio dries out and gets put back together, it looks like I’ll be an outdoor photographer for the next few weeks.

Which brings me to…

Update on Tornado damage.

if you didn’t know, a tornado touchdown in York County, and in Columbia. It made a direct path down my alley, took out the buildings in front of us and our roof and continued for a little.
I am so thankful we are all safe, and the damage was not as catastrophic as I had created in my head.
I was able to get in today to assess the damage and the restoration company is already working so hard to get the building back in order.
Thank you for your patience and understanding and also for everyone who has reached out to check on me! It’ll be a hot minute, but I’m still photographing. Just not in the studio.
