To all the dads who show up 🤍

The dads who carry the diaper bag, chase the toddlers, crack the jokes, wipe the tears, and somehow end up with a kid on their shoulders.

The dads who may not have been the ones to book the session . . . but show up anyway, ready to love on their family and make memories.

This one is for you.

As a photographer, I get a front row seat to the way dads love their kids. And while the photos are beautiful, it’s your presence that matters most.

So with Father’s Day being today, I want to shout out to all the incredible dads, grandpas, stepdads, father figures, and men who show up day after day for the people they love. Your family notices. Your kids notice. And one day, they’ll be so thankful you were in the photos, too.

Every pair of boots is a name & a story.

A husband. A son. A daughter. A best friend who didn’t come home.

Rows and rows of boots lined up in honor of the men and women who gave their lives serving our country. Every pair representing someone deeply loved, dearly missed, and never forgotten.

Someone misses the person who wore those boots.

So while you enjoy this long weekend, take a moment to pause and remember why we are able to.

Today is my birthday 🎉 I’m feeling grateful for everything life has brought my way, the good moments, the challenges, and of course all of the amazing people that I have had the honor of photographing. Today is one of those days of the year that sucks. I used to be so excited for this time of year, but now it’s a reminder that you aren’t here. I miss celebrating our birthdays together. It would be different if she were still alive. I wouldn’t be in Illinois because of the military, but we would still find a way to celebrate. I guess taking these photos every year has been my way of honoring and celebrating her. It also has been a way to talk to Cora about her Great Grandma Hellberg. I really wish they could’ve met. One thing that makes today a little easier is knowing that Grandpa is helping you celebrate. I miss you every day.
