Carolyn Drake’s photographs remind us that photography is rarely about certainty. Her work is filled with movement, fleeting gestures, layered moments, and the poetry of everyday life. Rather than presenting a single, fixed truth, her images invite us to wonder, question, and look a little longer.

She has a gift for capturing moments that feel in motion. A gesture, a shift in energy. Something has just happened, or is about to. Drake's work challenges the idea that a photograph must provide answers. Instead, it can hold complexity, ambiguity, and possibility all at once.

At Photo Jam, we often talk about creating images that leave room for interpretation. The most compelling photos aren't always the ones that explain everything. Sometimes they're the ones that make us curious enough to keep looking.
