My Tuesday AM students finished their layered abstract paintings before spring break, and they are too beautiful not to share. 😍 🎨

Artists chose analogous paint palettes to scrape on, then then used various tools like paint combs and recycled objects to print textures onto their canvases.

On our third week we added final details with chalk pens, oil pastels, and metallic paint markers. Very entertaining to study each painting and find the hidden details! 👀

PS - these are 24"x36"!

Painting progress update from the first two weeks of my current Tuesday AM art class 😍

I'm calling these layered large-scale abstract paintings? 😜 24x36" piece of gessoed canvas that just lays flat on the floor–we did a layer of scrape painting with analogous colors week one and then talked about tints and shades and added patterns and textures last week. Also looked at Joan Mitchell and Alma Thomas for some inspiration. 💪

We will add finishing touches next week, and I can't wait to continue watching these artists explore! 😍

🎨 8 Week Homeschool Art Series (Starts March 4, no class March 24 for Spring Break)�A skill-building, explorative series that blends making with meaningful artist studies. This round includes large scale painting, paper mache, printmaking, sculpture, and more (different from my last session but still in CO Springs)! Recommended for ages 5-12. �
