While this beautiful day happened well over a year ago, I couldn’t keep these to myself any longer. I was asked to capture the aesthetic of the day. Free, timeless with a simplistic elegance… weightless, if you may, like a feather caught in a gentle breeze.

If you know Cassi, it’s to know exactly that — gentleness.

Being in this woman’s presence is to be embraced in warmth. She has a smile that just brings a luminance to every room she steps into & it’s clear why Eric fell so head of heels for her! Cassi, I love you beyond measure. you have always been the sweetest friend to me & one of my biggest cheerleaders. This session… what to say about this session 🤩 sometimes the simpler the better & this mama proved that point perfectly.

I’ve done maternity on the beach with the most epic sunsets & off cliffsides with beautiful mountain views — but this quiet forest off the side of the road was the perfect setting for an intimate memory making session. This mama effortlessly delivered & I love when couples just immerse themselves in each other in the moment… THAT is what I strive to capture. Give me frame after frame of you acting like the only people left in the world 🥹 The love shared between these three is special & I’m so lucky to have been able to witness it!

Mikah, I can’t thank you enough for trusting in me to freeze these moments for you. I can’t wait to meet baby girl & commemorate becoming a family of 4!

I am so grateful for yet another year of capturing your memories for you!! Our time this year meant a little more to me & I cannot thank you enough for being the safe space you have been.

Jody, you have a heart made of the rarest gems & that little girl has one hell of a role model to look up to 🥹 she is a feisty little one and while they grow up fierce & strong… she’ll develop a level of gentleness & grace within her that’ll be the key. She gets all of that from you.

Mama has her hands full in the best ways 🥹

Tricia, you reminded me why maternity portraits were my first true love. Spending that afternoon at the dunes was nothing short of pure elation with what we were capturing. Your beauty radiated not only on the outside, but from within as well.

Fast forward — watching you with all your boys was a blessing!! You have such a calm demeanor in the midst of rambunctiousness & that in turn makes those sweethearts just adore you. Seeing them just fall into your arms and laugh is what makes freezing those moments that much more special.

I cherish the time we spent capturing memories not only once, but twice… your portraits will forever serve as a reminder on what makes my heart squeal for perfection on all levels.

Maternity in Dallas 🤍

The people I meet through photography are some of the MOST cherished humans in my life.

I first met this beautiful mama years ago when she was a bridesmaid for Costco’s very own Jessa & Brandon and I fell in love with her light. The very first time I traveled to NJ, I had a day to spare and she dropped everything to show me around NYC. I’ll never forget how scared I was to ride a train for the first time into the city — I thought I was going to end up in Pennsylvania — but she mothered me straight to her where I immediately felt at home. That was one of THE BEST days I had in my life & she gladly walked everywherrreeeeee with me, showing me all I wanted to see plus more she knew I couldn’t miss.

Finding out she was expecting one of her own was a moment I knew a baby was about to gain the greatest mom. It’s always interesting hearing women talk about how they never envisioned themselves as mothers or didn’t initially think they would have children when they are the epitome of what an amazing mom would be. Jasmine’s gentle, calming demeanor is that of a person built to mold the heart & mind of a tiny human… she has this innate ability to soothe the minds of those around her, which is a great attribute when you have someone (yes me, an adult) panicking about a 30 min train ride or being shoved in an underground Mets crowd after a game or waving me off literally runninggggggg for my life to catch the next train - saying she believes in me & good luuuuuck 😅

Star, I held myself together when I saw you but my heart is so full for you. Of course, I’m tearing as I type this but I cannot be more excited for you & Sion!!! Watching him look at you, the adoration he has in his eyes for you brings nothing but a smile to my face. That man LOVES you! You are just glowing mama, I didn’t see this radiance in NYC… it looks beautiful on you 🤍

Channeling my inner “thumbs up Rambo” for this busy season 🙃

Being up at 2-3am everyday seems to be the only time I can get any semblance of work done. The piles of galleries to be processed, the bookings that are finally coming around after months & years of planning — the driving, the timelines, the things that go wrong, the things that go right… anything & everything outside of photography (because yes, I am human with 3 kids and a personal life. I wish I were a machine)… my list could go on. But one thing that ALWAYS keeps me trying to putter on is the reaction from my couples.

I’m sad once I send off galleries because that usually marks the end of my relationship with clients. Which, don’t get me wrong, I understand I’m just “hired help” and no one special but I truly do put a lot of love & hard work into building a friendship, into images & creating art that you can be proud of. When I don’t get a thank you or acknowledgement after delivery — it’s cool, I get that your transaction is done… but messages like Kait’s REALLY seals a crack in my heart. (Be like Kait ✨🫶🏼)

Photography is more than just pressing a button. Capturing your memories is therapy for me… Fun fact— I started photography when I was in an abusive relationship & I lived through my clients. Getting out on shoots used to be the only time I was allowed out of the house & it was the only time I could have an ounce of happiness. Once I found mine, I continued to try and still bring happiness to others. Fast forward to now 13 years later and it’s the smallest, simplest message like hers that helps me begin to believe I’m still doing SOMETHING worthy 🤍

Hey Siri: how to recover after this chokehold of a maternity session…

After going from being one of the go-to maternity photographers in Hawai’i over 10 years ago to falling strictly into weddings & elopements, doing only a handful of maternity shoots the last 6 years — I feel a shift coming.

I have had the sand dunes on my bucket list for as long as I can remember & when I saw Tricia post she was in the hunt for a photographer, I tossed my name in the hat 𝑗𝑢𝑠𝑡 𝑖𝑛 𝑐𝑎𝑠𝑒 she happened to see my comment. To MUCH of my surprise, she picked me 🥹

Alyssa, where do I start?

It’s been an honor capturing memories for you & Cal for going on 2 years now & I must say… I am so happy to have met you. You have unexpectedly been a solid safe place for me for the last couple months & I cannot thank you enough. I know you’ve had quite a run yourself with 3 kids under 2 but gahhtt dayum you are doing an AMAZING job.

You showing up for me means the world & I can only hope to repay you even half as much. I hope you never discredit yourself for everything you accomplish on a daily basis. Take 2 was a SUCCESS!! 🥳

While yesterday was rough because we cut her nap short, we changed the time of her shoot to earlier than last time & Miss Rosie showed up ready for action!! She was over her cake pretty quickly and instead resorted back to her main obsession of Cheetoes — whose love affair is undisputed!
