💀Yikes!💀

I was walking around when we recently got snow to take some nature shots and this scene just made me giggle.

I thought of a couple of options for captions when making this meme. How would you caption this? Do you prefer the color or B&W? Tell me in the comments!

🌟 Twenty- NINE!- Schmidt, New Girl 🌟

This is a pretty big birthday for me. It's the last year of my 20s!

In the weeks leading up to my birthday, I kept picturing that episode from F.r.i.e.n.d.s. where we see flashbacks of how the group “coped” with turning 30. I think Monica’s surprise party was my favorite.

Instead of dwelling on the "scary" of getting older, I decided to bring my inner child out to play with some cake. My play therapy professor in grad school encouraged us to continue being playful as adults and photography is a way for me to do that.

As your photographer, I want you to know that it’s okay to do a shoot that’s “out of the norm”, non traditional, and simply just for your enjoyment. For me, photography is a way for my clients to get creative, increase confidence, and celebrate parts of your life that maybe don’t normally get recognized. No matter if it’s an adult cake smash, an anniversary date at your favorite ice cream shoppe, or some personality portraits at your local record shop, I am there to shoot your day, your way.

How do you let your inner child play?

✨Let me introduce myself✨

New year, new me? Or new year, same me continuing to grow and kick butt? 💪🏼

📸 Hi I’m Katelyn, your friendly neighborhood photographer.

Here are a few things about me

🦸🏼‍♀️I grew up watching Spiderman and he’s forever my favorite superhero (along with Wonder Woman [I know, different comic universe]). I cried happy tears at the new “Spiderman: No Way Home” movie– MCU fans iykyk

🦸🏼‍♀️I am a counselor who sees her own counselor

🦸🏼‍♀️I believe you can show confidence in yourself even when you’re not feeling it, both in front of the camera and in real life

🦸🏼‍♀️I love me a good run but consistently make Dunkin coffee in my Keurig

🦸🏼‍♀️I aspire to make your experience with me a safe place where you feel free to be yourself

🦸🏼‍♀️I am totally down for non-traditional locations for your photoshoot (laundromats, grocery stores, carnivals, etc)

🦸🏼‍♀️Tell me in the comments who your favorite superhero is and why👇🏼

👏 Just show up 👏

If you’re like me, you can easily get caught up in the things you DON’T accomplish, or the things that you didn’t do as well as other people.

“I only ran for 20 minutes”
“That person’s work looks so much better than mine.”
“She’s going out and living her best life and I’m stuck at home.”

One, comparing yourself to others is almost always a recipe for self-deprecation. Social media is a construct. That person that posted about their amazing vacation may be trying to enjoy some time away from some hard sh*t going on in their own life.

Two, starting small to work up towards bigger goals is never a bad thing. In fact, sometimes that might be better. I am trying to get better at working out and running. Today I ran/walked for like 20 minutes. And at first I kept thinking, “man, real runners go out and run for like 12 miles”. First of all, I have no idea how long other runners actually run for. Second, just because I only ran for so long doesn’t mean I’m not a “real” runner. I’m just happy that I got out there and did the thing! The alternative would have been sitting inside my house and not getting any activity in.

Sometimes the biggest thing you can celebrate is that you showed up for yourself. The biggest thing is to do it for YOU, not other people. has an amazing TedTalk called “Lessons from the Mental Hospital”. It’s an oldie but a goodie, and talks about showing for yourself. I HIGHLY recommend it!

How did you show up for yourself today?

🧘🏼‍♀️ Inner peace, as defined by Wikipedia, is the deliberate state of psychological or spiritual calm despite the potential presence of stressors such as the burden arising from pretending to be someone.

That's a lot to unpack 😅

I'm finding myself in a pretty chaotic moment of my life. Maybe this is just adulthood. Or maybe this is just a season. Whatever it is, I'm trying to figure out how and what it means to protect my inner peace. It's not easy and I don't always know what I'm doing. But maybe that's part of the process.

I wanted to bring this topic to the IG table today as we are all trying to navigate our own chaotic moments in life. The holidays can be crazy. Family can be toxic. Maybe you're in a job that doesn't make you happy. Maybe you just in general feel stuck, even though you can't quite put your finger on why.

Whatever is going on for you right now, this is your reminder to

🧘🏼‍♀️ Breath
🧘🏼‍♀️Slow down
🧘🏼‍♀️ Reflect
🧘🏼‍♀️ Do something for yourself

I hope that this brings some light to you, whatever you're doing right now. Please share this with someone who you think could benefit from this message. 💜
