I never really fell in love with the shelters on the AT. Considering how much it can rain, they’re a great resource. Unfortunately they all smell like p**s and mice run over your face. They fill up quick when you actually need them and all the campsites nearby are mudpuddles. Great spot for lunch, though.

Lake Nahmakanta in the 100 mile wilderness. Lots of great scenes in this section of the AT, but at the same time it was hard to come from Washington state and really appreciate it while suffering with getting our trail legs. Nobos get a much better experience of Maine.

On day 2 we took the blueberry ledges blue blaze to Abol Bridge. Purists see it as cheating on the route but it was a nice route and we maintained continuous footsteps.
