This is something I’ve had to learn the hard way.
For a long time, I thought charging less automatically made me more caring, generous, or approachable. But the truth is, constantly undercharging left me stretched thin. It created a business with no margin.
Margin allows you to rest.
To show up fully for your clients and family.
To love your work long term.
To say yes to opportunities to bless people when you genuinely feel led to.
Ironically, charging sustainably has allowed me to be far more generous than undercharging ever did.
Plus, having a list of referrals of photographers who are less expensive because they’re growing their business is the move. If people can’t afford me, there’s someone out there who would gladly take them as a client.
