Our preschooler's pick for "Real Life Super Hero Week" at school yesterday was teacher! He really came up with this one all on his own! After being given multiple other choices that I could think of, he looked at his preschool shirt (which his teacher often wears) and says "I wanna be a Ms. Mona!" 😭 You're right little man of course we have to honor our teachers! Thank you to Ms. Mona for keeping our little guy safe, happy, and inspired everyday! Just like Ms. Mona, Harrison is armed with a thermometer to check kids temps on arrival, glasses, a "Ms. Mona" name tag, and his school shirt haha. Thank you to all of my kids teachers, this year and last, for modeling normalcy in an unpredictable world, for going ten extra miles with lesson plans & sanitation, and the sheer hours you pull so some children can go in person safely and other children get the best education and experience you can give them from a live video stream everyday! Teachers go the extra mile during a normal school year, this year they are certainly super human! We see you, we appreciate you, we notice the sheer volume of work you do, we love that you love our kids, and we thank you! Yesterday we honored you!

This tiny red head's pick for "Real Life Super Hero Week" at preschool today was chef! Having a dad as a former chef helped him understand and want to honor chefs and all the people who have been making the take out, curbside, and hot meals (not cooked by us) possible this year! Having a husband as a former executive chef for multiple decades, being a former server myself, and owning a restaurant for 7 years of our own, there is probably nothing in the food service industry we didn't do at one point. Thank you wait staff, line cooks, hostesses, food truck owners, dishwashers, fast-food cooks, drive through order takers and restaurateurs! Thank you for wearing masks while doing an already hot job, for keeping a restaurant afloat with only 25% capacity, for enforcing rules that aren't fun, for sanitizing more than you thought was possible, and for pulling late nights as always. You made this pandemic a little more barrable with some food for our souls. So tip your barista, smile and say thank you for the fast-food bag being handed to you, and show grace when you end up with something you didn't order. This day honors you restaurant workers!

So my little guy is giving a shout out to all of the NURSES and all other medical professionals out there for "Real Life Super Hero Week" at preschool today! We certainly have been friends with and cared by so many wonderful nurses in our family! This healthy, spunky, and vivacious 3 yr old red head was pretty much raised by NICU nurses for the first 8 weeks of his little life. Thank you nurses for all that you do. You are certainly the back bone of our country during this time and always! This day he is honoring you nurse friends!
