Almost two years ago, I stepped away from doula work.

The way I was practicing no longer felt aligned with my heart, and before long, I found myself burned out and disconnected from the work I once loved.

As I return to this space through the path of midwifery, I feel myself being called back into the depths of birth work once again.

After much reflection, prayer, and consideration of how I truly want to serve families, I am so excited to share that I am opening a limited number of doula spaces each month.

Here you will find an energy worker, doula, photographer, ibclc, traditional midwife knowledge - all in one person.

Now more than ever, my care is rooted in traditional birth work.

My time with each family will center around ceremony, nourishment, fascia release, energetic support, planning your blessing way, and deep presence throughout your journey.

Birth will be held as a sacred ceremony, no matter where or how you birth.

And in the postpartum season, we will continue with emotional, physical, and spiritual nourishment for both mother and baby, concluding with a Closing of the Bones ceremony to honor the transformation that birth brings.

I am also excited to soon offer these services with Medicaid coverage, making this support more accessible to the families who desire it.

As a special offering, birth photography may be added at a discounted rate. đź’›

Anything that manages,
anything that draws attention back to us,
does not serve birth.

When we follow fear
the urge to do, to fix, to save
we interrupt something ancient.

When we reassure after every wave,
when our words become rehearsed and hollow,
we are no longer witnessing.
We are performing.
So many phrases - “good work” “that’s the way”, I’ve said them too, but why? Is there a time that words lose meaning?

Birth does not ask for performance.
It asks for surrender.

In midwifery school one the biggest lessons has been this.
we cannot show up authentically
if we are not actively shedding.
In the crunchy birth community women have been taught that at birth we must constantly do ; rub the back, reassure, listen to heart tones, encourage position changes, spinning babies.. etc

But

The midwife does her work
by doing nothing at all

so that the mother
can rise.

This is the day your life changes.
Not just in one moment but in a hundred quiet ones when you cross dimensions.

This is your birthright . Your rebirth.

I don’t just come to take photos. I come to witness, to hold space, and to document your story in a way that feels true to you. As a student midwife and a former doula, I know birth in my bones. I know how to hold your space.

And you may notice. I’m not the cheapest, because this work is intentional. The energy I bring, the way I see, and the quality you receive all matter deeply to me.
That being said discounts are available for certain months. Payment plans are available. All you have to is ask and we can work together to come up with a price that honors both of us.

Your birth deserves to be remembered this way.

I needed to paint her, grab colors with my hands and throw them at the canvas

I don’t want to talk about pain management or pain relief, because birth was never promised to be pain free. It was only promised to transform.

As long as you’re trying to manage. No matter what it is: pain, time, strength, or the frequency of your contractions. You’re holding yourself back from surrender. You cannot manage what is beyond your control. And birth is beyond human control (that’s not to say that modern-day systems haven’t tried).

The question to ask, then, is: how do I trust?
Trust to let my body and soul unravel.
Trust to let my cells rearrange.
Trust to open and birth life.

Your greatest initiation is birth. This is where you see the strength you really have. This is where you fall to God.

They tried taking it away from you with promises of comfort. They tried making it neat by managing your fears.

So take back what is yours. The sacred knowledge that comes from being pulled into the depths. Allow yourself to feel, no matter how intense. Pray like you have never prayed. Release words that don’t serve your birthright, and let birth show you who you really are.

Give me all the long hot summer days. The endless evenings on the porch.
The salty skin.
Water to play in on hot days.
I want the days where I melt into the earth and time seems to stop.
The wildflowers in my yard. The fuzzy bees my kids pet. The butterflies at my window.

I know each season must end. But until then I’m going to soak up these days that make me feel free and timeless.

“Only the new birth workers trust birth”
I heard them say.
And it got me thinking what do we trust birth in?
Because I trust it with my whole heart.
I trust birth in its innate right of passage.
Because birth never said we would come out unscathed. It never promised a healthy mom and a healthy baby, every time.
No, it promises something else, something transformational.
And that’s hard to swallow.
In our need of good outcomes, we forgot its primal promise.
Untouched and unmanaged, it takes us to the brink of our universe. And what we find there, what we face there is unknown. But we always come back transformed.
And I trust in that.
I trust it to be the most transformative experience we will ever have the honor of having.

Ugh guys I’m such a sucker for all things intimate. You story in motion blur and grain. I’m not interested in crisp, what pulls my soul is your emotions, the rawness. When you let the masks fall, and it’s just two souls, intertwined, connected.
