All I can say is WOW! I’m blown away! Thank you dedicated Senior Style Guide judges and kind community! All photographers put their hearts into their work. We work our hardest at producing pieces that represent ourselves, our clients and help us stretch our creative side. It is such an honor to have been selected by both the judges and the community in this competitive endeavor! Thank you all!

So… the short story behind this winning shot (that was mostly done in camera, with little editing)!…

Senior, mom, and I, along with my youngest, working as my assistant, had been shooting images for a few hours. I’ve got to hand it to the senior, she was a trooper; mom was a cheerleader, and my 13 year old was my biggest cheerleader, even after being exhausted from carrying all my equipment!

So… it’s dark outside, we are on the field and I had been shooting images for about 20+ minutes at this location, then I say, “wait… just one more! I have a vision!” It takes me a few minutes to set up the shot, take a few test shots, and then I start to direct. Afterwards, the image took only seconds to capture, but then the cheering, jumping, and shouting follows… “I got it!… I got it! I got it!” I just knew.

How awesome it feels when it all comes together! The senior’s friends thought it was all Photoshopped. Nope!… I know there’s a lesson here… I will be pondering upon it and maybe share another time. But I am grateful that my vision was appreciated by so many.

It’s me! Your friendly neighborhood photographer! I just arrived to my hotel in Louisville, Kentucky for my second year attending Imaging USA! WOW! What a journey of discovery I have been on! I am so grateful to get the chance to learn from industry stars to improve my craft and be an even better photographer for my clients. I get rejouvenated through the energy I feel from other skilled photographers here to see how far they can go!

It's prom season! And I was so happy to be able to photograph my son before his Junior Prom. The rest are soon to come!
As a mom I want my pictures to remember my kids' special days. As a photographer, if I can, I want to make it very special! However, it can be so hard to convince some of my kids to let me take their picture! This one didn't want a big fuss over his pictures. But I think he looks pretty dapper!

Oh my gosh! I needed to hear this today!

I received a card in the mail recently.

It said: You’ve already won, because you’re still in the game.

It was signed from my friend, Amy Porterfield.

She sent this to me at the end of a hard week - one of those weeks where not one thing, not two things, not ten things, but 29823742 things seem to go wrong.

When I read her words, I was reminded of something I often tell myself: I don’t lose if I don’t quit.

So, today, whatever it might look like for you, I want to come alongside you and whisper: keep going.

I’m here to remind you that you’ve already won.

Your success is a foregone conclusion.

You won’t lose because you won’t quit.

What is a senior photoshoot like when you work with me?
…It’s an adventure!
My younger daughter and my younger son are often my assistants. They are amazing help! You can hear my daughter getting a bit nervous that I wanted to move further into the water to get that perfect shot! The rocks below were VERY slippery! But if I can do it, I’m going to try, just to get that amazing shot!
