Rainbow Reflections
Fall colors always bring out the best reflections! The symphony of reds, yellow and greens in these little aspen trees are just fantastic. And here, we get two for the price of one! Capturing great reflections is always a delicate balance of wind, light and sheer patience. One little gust and the entire mirror turns to fog. Fortunately, Mother Nature was on our side on this fine Colorado day.

Established in the 1800s, Ashcroft, like many towns in the wild west, was part of the pioneers' pilgrimage across America. Prospectors came in search of gold and silver. Today, photographers come in search of a different kind of gold. . . One that can only be found on the brilliant aspen forests during fall colors.

This image was captured from 500 meters away using a 300mm lens. The telephoto effect helps to compress the red rock towers and the snow capped mountains in the distance into a pleasing composition.
