Moments like this make waking up at 4:30am worth it.

This specific morning we set out to Lamar Valley with the goal of seeing wolves. We realized if you really want to see wolves or bears in Yellowstone, its easiest to just drive around until you see a group of people sitting behind spotting scopes. Everyone we encountered was friendly enough to share their scopes with us to let us see the wolf the group had found.

Sadly while I was taking this picture, a tornado wreaked havoc in Franklin, TX. It seems much of Texas experienced some spring storms this past week.

In this picture cows were running and hats flyin’ as the storm kicked up 40mph winds. This last Hereford in the pasture stopped running to wonder what I was doing.

Often ignored just for its milky brown water, I’d wanted to kayak the Brazos for the last couple years. Last weekend we finally made it happen. With little information, pictures, or encouraging words, most of the trip was planned with educated guesses and the help of Google Maps.

Steep banks, seclusion, and limited access make for the Brazos being a uniquely underrated and unappreciated feature of College Station. Get out there and explore.
