Saturday night was the most perfect golden hour with the most perfect couple. Engagement sessions are a great way to connect as a couple during what is usually the stressful time of wedding planning. It is also a fun way to get to know your photographer and what it’s like to work with them. I’m so excited to share this experience with them, and they are truly the nicest people! Where are my adventure seeking friends at? Or even new South Dakota friends? If you know me, you know I love South Dakota and travel out to the Black Hills almost every summer. I can’t think of a better place to expand my portfolio to than locations like the Badlands, Rapid City, and Black Hills area (Sylvan Lake and Custer Park are a favorite!).
I’m hoping to spend some time out there towards the end of June, so if you are planning a visit (or live in the area) and interested in family photos or even a Senior Session, I’d love to connect!

Occasionally, weather can disrupt outdoor photography plans. In such instances, having access to a dry and secure studio space proves invaluable. Fortunately, the Timp family was excited to move to an indoor photo shoot, versus navigating the challenges of unpredictable weather. Who wants to look wet or even slip on grass? Dancing because the rain stopped just in time for pictures. But seriously, how lucky were we to have a gap in drizzle and rain so we could do outdoor photos yesterday?! The best thing about this time of year is there are no bugs! So it’s the perfect opportunity to take photos. Or in the case of the Rausch family, when it’s a celebratory year with a 50th, 20th and 10th weddding anniversary!
